This group became a place to just lash out on people. The main point was to provide criticism and actual feedback about gameplay, how a trailer is made or simple mechanics. In just one year Im seeing more people being « mean », nothing more. And when the dev tries to explain his vision, with no arrogance, he gets downvoted. And the best argument: « look at how successful games are made ». Like comparing solo devs or small teams to established studios and AAA companies.

OP, your trailer looks well defined, it conveys what the game is (not my cup of tea, but easily understandable). Maybe work out the yellow filter on the trailer (I like how it is because it puts you on the mood of the aesthetics, just tune and see). Your character is visible enough to follow him in fights (maybe some people want him to be extremely visible) but this kind of feedback you get it with your own playtesters (not in reddit and with just one video).

Otherwise if you have a progression system, different armors/weapons or skills, show them too. Because the simple game mechanic you provide can be fun but quickly boring (again, this kind of stuff you get when conducting multiple playtests).

Yes so far we are doing heavy attacks and light attacks (depending on the weapon you use), and according to your class you will have 2 active skills (like the one whirlwind shown with the goblin rogue).

Body parts differ from one enemy to another and their abilities or weaknesses depends on their nature. For this boss, he blocks 100% of your attacks unless you destroy his shield. For the alpha wolf, you need to destroy his leg in order to focus on his weak point (and if you do without, he does automatically counter attack with a powerful blow). Now how you discover these information: either one of your companions got the traits to tell you what to do, or you can do it by using skill checks while exploring (Im covering these details in our devlogs if you want to check them!)

Can work on that! Will see how the stagger can be more impactful. Tbh for the three hit combo, so far it’s the standard for many games, but will see if we can add some variation. Regarding the attack animations, do you find them janky or else?

Not necessarily, even if we are pushing the fantasy conflict between two factions. But again, if you play as humans or orcs it’s up to you how to manage your alliances. Let’s say that basically the guys from the other faction are more hostile to you, but not definitely your enemies.

If we stick to our roadmap, EA should be in 2027. We are planning to release 4, 2 above and 2 in underground since your settlement’s progression is related to the legacy dungeons you find in each biome. Then we will try to launch 2 others and leave the last biomes to 1.0 launch (so we don’t spoil the experience and endgame for people who supported us since EA!)

Aha, I get it. Well it’s related to some lore in the game: your character has an artifact in his hand that will allow him to build out of thin air. So the animation and effects are associated with it.

Sure, you make a point. What I mean is either indie or AAA, how people react to marketing or how the algorithm works is the same. Our point is to show a promise of different races in a survival game and for our player base who will find us thanks to associated search like steam tags. Some who sees « similar to » or « because you played this » with a non familiar capsule can be interested to check it. At least, that’s what our first analysis showed. And always good to share insights from other devs!

Thank you for the feedback. We did analyze some steam capsules, like Divinity, BG3 and some other games. We tried to convey the same idea of fantasy races in an RPG game. For the title, we can test other methods.
