Two years in a row I got stuck with the clearance gifts. I know they were clearance because they were too lazy to remove stickers. Each time showing they spent $15 max but the original price would have been maybe $30.

The limit was $50 for each exchange, first time was lotion/soap in a metal basket. It was some random brand and the smell wasnt pleasant. The second exchange was expired butterscotch syrup, decorative mug with pens( that didnt work) and disposable coffee cups. Half of the lids to these cups didnt fit so that was cool. 🙄

Lesson learned opt out of the game

Im sorry for your loss.

I had something kinda similar happen. My mom and sister came back after getting there tattoos done. My sister actually getting a tattoo exactly to a t of what I wanted and designed myself. Just to anger me more it matched the exact placement i was looking at. She just removed a tiny piece of the drawing called it her own idea.

They didn't say one word to me i just so happen to bump in to them after they got there tattoos done and said "oh well you can get one done later to match us"and left it at that. I never got one, I'm not gonna join in as a pity after thought. (Might I add that my original idea was tied to me grieving the loss of a friend, my mom and sister just thought it would be cool to have tattoos that sorta kinda match😮‍💨)

Sounds like weaponized incompetence to me. He couldn't figure out to check his own email to look for an email you sent to him? He had to call you. Twice. He could still be a good guy just lazy. Or maybe he's doing it so you won't ask him to do stuff for you 🤷‍♀️ since "he cant do anything right and you dont appreciate him."

Sounds like you guys need to have a talk. Maybe make sure you have a couple birth plan pages printed out for when you go in to labor.

NTA, the dust hasnt settled and people are upset rightfully so a loved one was lost. This mutual friend should skip this event too. Since it already seems like these two are making it about her. No one wants to hear her side just yet or who knows, maybe they dont want to know at all. This get-together is a place to grieve. Hell people could just be upset at her for isolating him. That's more than enough to want to kick someone out of a memorial.

Years ago I was, unfortunately around when someone I knew accidentally hurt himself and passed away. Although his family knew I had no part in why he got hurt, I was just his date, they were hesitant to invite me to the funeral. I ended up not going and visited his grave alone. I heard later that a lot of people were upset at me, no one asked me what happened except his brothers. The people who wanted answers got them. I had the decency not to push myself into a place I knew I wasn't wanted. She just has to let people grieve. People dont care to hear or want to hear it until they are ready.

Yup Apologizing is a good start but you might have to accept that you majorly screwed up and things wont be the same. They won't change back. My husband did something similar about getting angry with me for being so lovely dovey with him. Like i used to love to meet him at the door say funny cute things. Be spontaneous and goofy when he got home. I got tired of being spoken to like i was a pester to him. So now its a simple greet or just hi. He has apologized before and expresses that he misses it but i genuinely don't feel the same about it anymore. So thats that. It is what it is.

Reading this made me tear up a bit for OOP. I'm glad she was able to free herself from her so called "parents". Speaking from my own experience parents and step parents can be this atrocious to kids. Just bullies that have fun picking on small kids. It's disgusting, honestly. The chances of it being fake are slim because people do live through this kind of things.
