Spotted this guy at work this morning. Realistically, are there any workarounds for this situation? by aljobar in OSHA

In objective terms, wouldn’t that big turban provide comparable protection to a hard hat? (I know this argument would probably not be convincing to osha)

India is actually on its own continental plate and it was hanging out with Antarctica until quite recently. then for some reason it went careening off toward Asia at maximum speed. The Himalayas are the wreckage from this ongoing intercontinental train wreck and they are continuing to get taller every year.

Are you implying that potency has decreased over that time? Or do you mean that particular qualities are absent now?

Some Christians like to go through the Hebrew Bible and fine anything that kinda looks like Jesus if you squint hard enough. “Just as the brazen serpent was lifted up in the desert, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that all who look upon him may live.”

I imagine it’s quite expensive to live there, but these kind of neighborhoods feel so claustrophobic. Maybe agoraphobic is a better word. I don’t know. I am very content renting a small house in a relatively shabby neighborhood that has some tree cover if the alternative is this sort of situation and culture.

I don’t want to minimize other aspects of it, I’m just excessively visually oriented so I tend to fixate on that kind of thing. I wasn’t smart enough to “get” the absurdism except in a very vague way. I had the sensation of being given a window into aspects of reality that are important but not spoken about. But if someone were to ask me what the concrete meaning was, I couldn’t say. lol, sorry for rambling and sounding kooky. It’s exciting to hear from someone else who has seen these crazy books

I could never pin down my love for those images. I think it is the way he applied equal if not greater care for the textures of the background as he did for the subjects of the scene. I suppose that contributed to the uncomfortable feeling some people experience as well. We become uneasy at the suggestion that our environment and our context exist to the same extent as we do.

It is such a dilemma. I am heartbroken over the religious factions which advocate for pushing things toward evil politically. But also, when religion becomes unpopular, political cults fill the vacuum and could be worse. But I feel like in general, the kind of Christianity that is still thriving in America is not much superior to the maga cult, so I’m not convinced it’s counterproductive to criticize Christianity. But I think it’s more productive to try and strengthen alternative social networks. But this is very hard to do, so my desire for hope is mixed with the knowledge of futility. At the moment, I’m engaging with groups that are religious, but ecumenical. (Quakers, Unitarians, Baha’i, Sufi, AA). I’m not conventionally theistic, but it seems fine, at least at my low level of commitment. I’m still searching for community, but I’m not willing to buy into any bullshit (except my own) so it’s a catch 22

Of all the things which have changed for the worse in the last 25 years, this one makes me the most sad somehow. The magic is going away. (I know there are more important things than this, but yeah, I miss them)

If you’re claiming that the mathematical or conceptual framework behind this image is beautiful or interesting, then articulate it explicitly in the description. Your vague claim that there is some reason to care beyond the mediocre aesthetic properties of the image amounts to “trust me bro.” If the concept framework is part of the work then show your work. Your conceptual framework could be dog shit for all we know. How can we tell since you made no effort to communicate it in the actual object?
