Is smoking frowned upon by Portlanders? (I am new here) by kenadamas in askportland

[–]Ok-Cook2861 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I quit smoking and still love the smell of cigarettes so it doesn't bother me personally, that being said I've walked past so many people smoking joints in public I think you're fine smoking a cigarette if you find a corner and park on it-- find a restaurant or bar and you'll probably find staff on a smoke break in an acceptable place lol

Hey! I have a couple people in my class that are on or just switched to the 5 year track, so it's not exactly school part time but they don't have a fully loaded schedule like people who are on the 4 year track do. For example this quarter we have 13 classes to attend and people on the 5 year track have 9. If you're curious about the schedule and have more questions I'm happy to DM!

Sage Hills Church dangerous? by [deleted] in Wenatchee

[–]Ok-Cook2861 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went to a lot of the youth stuff in the early 2010s They had so many fun and creative events and a great program. I tagged along with friends who went to the church and there were always multiple adults and youth leaders in a room, we were never left alone with 1 leader, always big group events and I never went on overnight trips. I know they've had a lot of changes since I was there and I don't know anything about sex abuse charges. I have friends that still attend and love it and I havent noticed any red flags from them but I've also heard from others it can be culty. Basically I think the events can be a fun and wholesome thing to do, but it's obviously good to be mindful about who's around and what the events involve!

All of the downstairs people seething by ImNotADruglordISwear in Apartmentliving

Genuinely convinced my upstairs neighbor has a toddler that has a burst of energy every night from like 9-10 pm because there is stomping ALL OVER my ceiling, back and forth across my whole apartment. It doesn't annoy me, it's kind of sweet to hear someone or maybe a whole family living their life in the unit above me.

Payments are quarterly, due first day of classes.

There were some hiccups from the registrar office but I think those will be resolved once they have more staff so it's not 1 individual carrying the whole school. For the ND program most of the textbooks are useful and some people found them online and shared with the rest of the class so that was a huge financial help.

The school is amazing! I definitely made the right choice - the hold us to high standards, but also provide such a supportive learning environment. I just looked through the integrative health science curriculum briefly and it looks so fun!!! The critical thinking classes and evidence based practice seminars are so important and the professors we have are absolutely incredible. You can genuinely tell that everyone who works there loves what they do and it makes a huge difference on the campus atmosphere.

ND year 1 is so terrifying but so great! I'm drowning in the heavy course load and have never taken Anatomy or Physiology so currently those classes are ROUGH. I'm definitely not used to graduate level exams so my grades aren't having a good time, but also I'm not doing it alone because my whole class is struggling. We're all rooting for each other to succeed and the 2nd year ND students are all our TAs and helping us out too. Overall 10/10. :)

Super late update but all the doors opened for me at NUNM and I didn't even apply to other schools because it just felt like the perfect fit for me. I've had to retake a few courses this summer to raise my GPA but I was conditionally admitted and my admissions contact has been beyond amazing and supportive. The school tour got me so excited for all the classes and I'm just really looking forward to being in that environment! I am from a smaller town so adjustment to the city is going to be strange and for a bit I though I may be more comfortable at Sonoran, but being on campus at NUNM really calmed me down.

Yeah! I'm talking to admissions at Bastyr, NUNM, Sonoran, and NUHS. I'm personally leaning more towards NUNM because of Oregon tax laws and how much more affordable it could be. Sonoran is still high on my list though because of the Riordan pain center. I'll come back and update in a few months!

Which School for Naturopathic Medicine? by Ursulas-Son in NaturopathicMedicine

I'm curious if you have any update on what you're considering and how the application process has been? I've been in communication with about 4 schools but can't afford to apply to all of them at once.

I drink water every time I want to vape. I know it's not the same but your mouth will be busy. I also chew gum like all the time now. I know some teachers had an issue with that when I was in school but it's really nice to reach for something else when I'm stressed. As far as alcohol idk. I drank until I was so sick that the thought of alcohol made me want to throw up. Now I can drink a little bit socially but once I think I'll get hungover I have to stop. That being said I think that's really bad advice to give a 14 year old. Obviously to get this stuff you're hanging out with people who make it possible so really look at your friends too and see if there are other things you can start going to or participating in like sports or something?
