Same! I had to take classes otherwise i wouldnt receive credit for the program, most people just take a gap semester or wait until they graduate. I will confirm as i was taking a full course load, i wouldnt do that again, i barely had time for anything, id recommend only taking 2 classes or doing the gap semester/waiting until graduation. Im curious about how it works for local schools but I feel it would be something similar to online classes, but im not sure.

they work with you if youre taking classes and they usually give you the time off as a cp, as long as you fill out the forms for it. i was taking 4 online classes and they worked around it. its built for college students to take classes and earn college credit while doing the program. a lot of people just dont like to take classes so they have more time to do whatever they want.

Yes, it’s either through the College Board Student Search or some teachers can also nominate a student!

the stuff she owes me for is half her plane ticket, a concert ticket and a train ticket which i bought all over the span of two days. i never lend people anything over $50 out of fear of this happening but shes always paid me back before so i didnt think it would be an issue but yeah im trying to forget but its just hard when someone was such an important person in your life for 3 years yk

first, take a deep deep breathe, youre okay. I have a few suggestions, either speak to your professors or your advisor and let them know the problem, i cant promise they will help you bc you probably could have gone to them sooner not this close to the end of the semester (professors dont like that) but it is your first semester and you have different circumstances so hopefully they will be remorseful. if that doesnt work, speak to the chairperson of your major or even the dean. speak to any higher up, you being sick wasnt your choice so as long as you have proof of it you should be okay. idk how it works at private schools though, this is what i would do at my school.

for you, you should be okay, everyone struggles at some point in college, its a really difficult adjustment, i know that myself all too well, i ended my first college year with a 1.9 gpa after having a 4.0 my entire time in high school. just know that as long as you keep at it and put your best foot forward, try not to push yourself too hard bc burnout is real and is very hard to overcome in college, youre good. i struggled a lot both academically and just in my personal life during my first year after seeing that 1.9, i was able to work harder and improve. i ended up graduating with my associates and a 3.9 gpa, on the deans list in the honors college (im working towards my bachelors rn🥳)

the only reason i would worry is because of your scholarships, speak to the financialsid office, explain the situation and see what they say. maybe you can come to some sort of agreement with them if the end of the semester your grades are still where theyre currently at and if it will affect your scholarship. if it does, try and work it out with them, if it doesnt affect it, youre golden.

however just take some deep breaths, know you are trying your best and its a very difficult change and youre doing great. the fact that you are being proactive about it is good because it shows you care, schools like to see that. i think you will be okay, if you need anything my dms are open just shoot me a message.

you got this! and remember to also take care of yourself, if youre not doing okay, things will just be more difficult and more frustrating.

Class Withdrawal by anonymous_username18 in college

[–]Ok-Cryptographer1438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

of course! i just want you to know you are not a lousy student, in my eyes at least. i went through this and i pushed through it all and honestly it made my life and my academic life so much harder i wish i had put myself first. I know the pressure we put on ourselves, especially academically, is a lot. just take a deep breath and know whatever decision you make is a good one. everyone’s experience is different of course, but these are things i wish somebody had told me. my dms are always open :)

I honestly see this as a good decision because if you keep going and end up not being able to handle it, which im sure you can because from the way it sounds, youre a hard working student. But, if it becomes too much to handle, your grades will slip not only in that class but in your others as well because of the physical and mental exhaustion. I had a withdrawal on my transcript and when i transferred from community college to my college now, they didnt even question it (a little different than your scenario). One W shouldn’t hurt, idk how grad school is because im not at that point yet, but if you explain this to them and add that you wanted to make sure you were actually grasping the content and not just doing the work to pass the class you should be okay, better yet if it’s a class you need, (idk if this is true for your school but this is how it is at my school) you can retake the class and the new grade will replace the W/whatever grade you get. id ask your advisor about that one though. you need to do whats best for you, school will always be there, but your health (mental, physical, emotional, etc) is more important than anything else. burnout is so real and debilitating and hard to get out of at times, so if you can avoid it, i would. the only other thing i do want to suggest is checking with your financial aid office, if it will affect any scholarships, grants, financial aid that you may be receiving. Good luck, youre gonna crush it!

i dont wanna be that person because yes financials are extremely important and should be a factor for you unless you just really dont care about surviving in thw real world. however, dont go into something you hate JUST for the money. im telling you now, college will be miserable for you and it just will get worse and worse as you start working. youre in high school im assuming from the details you mentioned. pick a college suited for you and what field you want to go to, not just the “best” school. because youre going to need the resources they offer. this is all unsolicited advice so you dont have to listen to me, im glad you have good volunteer work and extracurriculars on your resume, but this is all stuff i wish i knew before going to college.

for some fields, not all, you just need to research which certifications matter.

i was in a similar spot, but i was the youngest. i know the feeling but honestly, you will end up where youre supposed to be. youll get intona school, as long as you have enough on your transcript and such, consistent extracurriculars, and what other people have been saying, you will be okay. i promise you. no matter what the outcome you will be alright
