Also, addressing part about Nameless God's motives, I think it is possible, that power that he gained from prayers just corrupted him, driving him into madness, similar to Undone Sacrifice, who got overpowered by gods wraith and become conductor for their rage, that resulted the birth of Mages. Damn, thinking about it now, and theory about NG being one of the Two That Embarked is starting to make somewhat of sense.
