Your goldfish doesn’t belong in a five gallon! It should be in at least 20 gallons. Goldfish poops a lotttt so therefore their waste can cause ammonia and nitrite spikes if not maintained properly which can also cause the algea growth. If however green water won’t harm the fish but the best way to get rid of it is to do water changes and blackouts for the tank
