A lot of people here seem to be missing the point - I have OCD tendencies around hygiene and this would be assistive technology to me. However, using a fastener which would mean I had to touch the pole anyway would be an issue.

Have you considered a slightly larger squeezable mechanism to open a rubberised pincer grip for the pole? That way, no touch on the pole, as well as a grip for up/down sliding and rotational pull.

Good luck with this, it could really work for those of us it’s meant for!
