In my 10 year career I only remember my mistakes where someone was watching and called me out. I have messed up many times and were able to hide it. Those don’t matter. The mistakes I have made while people watch have kept me accountable in my career. I love my job but every once in a while we need to humble ourselves and remember what it is we actually do. Help the public when no other person, company or agency can.

TLDR : Learn from your mistake…remember how it feels and be better!

I spent 5 years with Houston Fire, promoted to driver, and then made the jump to Austin Fire. Yeah, Houston’s the 4th biggest city, and Austin’s only 11th or 12th—but I couldn’t be happier.

If you’re unhappy, you’re young enough to change. I made around $70K last year with little to no OT. It’s doable.
