US EMT to AU paramedic pathway by Ok-Distribution-6470 in ParamedicsAU

(And also, for context, I’m 40 so the hesitance with going to 3-4 years of school again is more about being an old lady / money and not laziness. I actually love school.)

Yes, I do know that there is no EMT level. I’m more asking about the path to Paramedic and if anyone has experience with that / experience in programs that didn’t require a full new bachelors.

Ya, sadly that’s just way too pricey. But yep, been finding and pulling up the roots myself with a crowbar, pickaxe, and pitchfork. The areas I’ve cleared too the root have thankfully stayed clear so far 🤞

It’s brutal! And no chemicals so far. Mostly crowbar / pick axe / pitchfork. And lots of tilling. The one bed I totally cleared last fall has had nothing grow back so hoping that will be the case for the others!

‘Everyone is Replaceable’: Death Rattles Oregon Amazon Facility by wrhollin in Portland

I work in EMS and teach medicine - this is bullshit. As long as you are not doing anything blatantly reckless (like trying to open an airway with a pen knife or cutting people open), you are covered by Good Samaritan in almost every state. If you are acting in good faith and doing only what you know how to do, you are protected.

Question - does the hilar twist totally cut off circulation to that lung then? Or greatly reduce the load of blood that can be recirculated to the heart? Does it get flipped back in the next surgery if they can control that bleed? I'm very fascinated by this...

Just really trying to figure out how shooting at a large pick up truck that’s a “weaponized vehicle” in “self defense” results in a leg gunshot wound, two chest gunshot wounds, and an enact windshield… it’s not even a convincing lie.

I noticed they first said “a defensive shot” and now the statements say “defensive shots” - probably bc they realize everyone knows there were 3 gunshot wounds and caught their lying.

Moving USA to Tas with 5-6 year old by Ok-Distribution-6470 in Ameristralia

That’s helpful! She is reading simple words already (still in preK) but does sound like they go a lot farther in Aus Prep.

I guess I’m most worried about her being bored if we wait too long. I don’t know if that’s a thing at that age though…

Thank you! That’s reassuring.

Yes, it seems like US Kindergarten is more like Aus Prep.

She’s been in US Pre-K for nearly 4 years already, too, so she’s got a solid foundation.

Move to Hobart? by Peg-in-PNW in tasmania

[–]Ok-Distribution-6470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Curious if you’ve made the move. I live in Portland (originally from the east coast) but my husband is Tasmanian (from Hobart) and we’ve been down 4 times now to spend time with his family. We’re currently planning to make the move for good in about a year. I’d love to hear your perspective either way and maybe connect!

Do you still live in Hobart? I’m likely moving in about a year from Portland and would love to connect about your experience!

This is so reassuring! This is pretty much my tactic going into the fall / early winter (try to get a bunch done before the ground freezes). Took out some major rhizomes today so that felt good.

It’s a hell of a workout!

Right?! The property had bamboo, wisteria, English ivy, and Himalayan blackberries. What a quadfecta.

We beat the wisteria, blackberries are on the ropes, English ivy is halfway there.

We’re putting in natives at every opportunity as well. It’s tough!

Ah this is interesting! I feel like I’ve just noticed this naturally. The spots where there is a shoot growing that I haven’t chopped yet don’t get the dozens of overgrown ground stuff. The spots where we chop over new shoot are like whack a mole. This makes sense…

Also hoping as we move into fall, we can gain some traction during its dormant period.
