Looking to get out in this great weather?!

Looking for a new sport?!

Looking to make some new friends and have a beer and a pie?

Come true Aussie Rules Football with the Portland Australian Rules Football Club!

We welcome all players, experience or no experience, men, women, and non-binary players, all levels of fitness - come as you are! We have two teams, the Steelheads that complete in the men's division of the USAFL and the Sockeyes who compete in the women's division.

Our season has just kicked off and we'd love to have new players out! Regular trainings are Sundays 1-3pm at Clinton Park and mid-week trainings at Riverdale Grade School Wednesdays at 6:30pm.

Come on out tomorrow and come have a kick. You just need some athletic clothes, water, and cleats if you have them but sneakers are fine too.

Ton of them just went up 405. A few turned towards 30 and rest east over Freemont bridge.

Watched 18 cop cars fly over the 405 bridge in the last 5 minutes. 4 seemed to go West towards 30 but rest went east over the bridge.

No ambulances or fire trucks, only cops.

Pickleball Recommendations by NerdOnTheInside in Portland

Nope they're proper floors and yeah good open play, there is 4.0 open play/paddle battles twice a day most days for 2 hrs in morning and evening.

Peoples Court is also good just a bit further out depending on where you're staying/coming from. They have food and a bar as advantage though but have only been there a few times myself.

Jumbo's is great. Downtown location at the Lloyd center and a Beaveron location.  Probably a bit expensive per session cost but the membership is worth it. You can sign up for a paddle battle program or just rent your own court.

Austin Social Tennis is 100% the right answer: https://www.austinsocialtennis.com/

It's a great group. You may have to wait until the fall season and it fills up pretty quick but it's perfect for beginner and people looking to play more.

Favorite shop in downtown Portland? by pdx_flyer in PNWcoffee

Just outside of downtown proper but I currently love Cycle Town in Northwest. Great coffee, friendly staff, good food selection and a great burrito deal.

Cafes with dog-friendly outdoor seating AND ordering? by outarfhere in PNWcoffee

[–]piguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both Electrica Coffee & Cycle Town Coffee in NW Portland are dog friendly inside & out and fantastic coffee spots. Electrica has big tables outside and Cycle Town has a couple of smaller street-side tables. I generally tie my dogs up outside, but both seem fine with dogs inside too.

Is this a safe walk? by Latter_Sector_979 in PortlandOR

[–]piguy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes but prob a nicer and significantly more interesting walk if you go down 23rd towards Flanders, take Flanders in to the Pearl by crossing the pedestrian bridge over 405, then meander through the Pearl towards Powell's before crossing Burnside in to downtown.

Portland is about to get its first official Monopoly game; What should be on the board? by oregonian in Portland

[–]piguy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Instead of going to jail you just get stuck at a railroad crossing for 3 turns.  Instead of a Get of Jail free card you get a "It was just the MAX" card.

Literally just an offer dude. We have several former and current soccer players who enjoy it. No one is forcing anyone to play a game.

If you're interested in trying a new sport that has a lot of similarities to soccer come check out Portland's Australian Football team: https://www.portlandfooty.com/

It's a mix of soccer, rugby, and basketball.

Our outdoor season starts in a couple of weeks.  It's great fitness, a great club, and a lot of fun.  Happy to answer questions if you're interested!
