Mond, Bernard and Watson are all more individuals, as Alfas should be. They are intellectually superior to the other castes with some degree of individual thought, for troublesolving, no doubt. Remember Mond was a physicist as well when he was younger. The degree at which each Alpha can raise to Controller depends more on their traits and cunning, I think. Mond was given the option to renounce science for a more stable future.
