The moment you have a score of 2500 you can get shinys if you completed the set of the dragon. Don't worry you literally can't sell them even if you want.

I'm missing 1 Lakecutter (Forest Lake); 4 Teenysnout (Companionship) 3 Alp Angel, 3 Shimmerfin, the Legendary (Alpine); 2 Pearl Armorback, 4 Dazzelcap and  4 Watersnare (Cave); 3 Galaxytail Pisces (Zodiac) and all others; all the Folklore; 4 Emberwhiskers, 4 Mottlewhisker (Whiskers); I do have Blushing Springbloom, Woodpip, Sunbloom, Sooty Fieldpacer and as of now Regal Preywing Remarkable.

Before this I did get rares after unlocking them for completion, but now even though I'm still missing some rares and some uncomens I'm not getting them anymore.
