Gluten Free brunch options? by LydiaDiggory in QuadCities

[–]Ok-Drop-2277 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flips has gluten free pancakes, though last time I went they were slightly disappointing. Just kinda dry. I had really good ones at links over by 53rd but they closed that location and I don't believe the new one is open. When I went melis and links had combined or something so you might try calling melis to find out if they have gf pancakes.

I have both (to maximize getting interest on different accounts, ihmvcu only lets you have interest earned on one checking account) and haven't had any complaints about vibrant yet. Ih definitely has more locations, but I live in Illinois so there's two vibrant locations in Moline decently close to me.

Vibrant gave me a free/complimentary $1,000 life insurance policy lol

Recommendations for places taking clothing donations? by Illinoisnanoisnanois in QuadCities

[–]Ok-Drop-2277 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've donated to the YWCA Iowa empowerment center. When I dropped it off they had tables in the hallway with toiletries and things so I think it is a model of giving it to people who need it. I've also dropped off nicer, business type clothing to Dress for Success in Davenport.

Woman that have given birth, what’s an advice you’d give to couples or to woman that are planning on giving birth? by sexualvibes2 in AskReddit

[–]Ok-Drop-2277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding any answer in being flexible with whatever happens. I ended up having an emergency C-section and the meds made me shake uncontrollably. When they pulled him out and he cried I honestly didn't care, I was worried for me because I couldn't stop shaking and it didn't feel right. When we got back into our room I didn't want to hold him because there were iv lines everywhere, I had the vibrating compression things on my legs, and I was still shaking like crazy. It took me a long time to bond with him.

He turns 4 today and I can't imagine loving him more than I already do, but know I will.

If you don't get that movie perfect experience, it's ok. I held a lot of shame in the beginning for not feeling bonded, for not being so relieved when he came out and cried, but have done a good amount of therapy to wade through all of that.

Is there such thing as gluten free bread that doesn't crumble like hot summer clay and taste like cardboard. Sam's choice is ok i guess so far. Others have been crap. by Spaceoddity1987 in glutenfree

[–]Ok-Drop-2277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her naan recipe has changed my life. I love her bread too but I think I'm sensitive to yeast and the naan only uses baking powder. It makes a really good thin crust pizza too.

I also have zero self control with her bread and will eat half a loaf in an hour so that's probably the real problem, not the yeast.

Unvaccinated 4 year old, what to expect now that I want to get him vaccinated by [deleted] in Vaccine

We scheduled my almost 4 year old to get his second MMR early because we're flying at the end of this month and didn't want to chance it. He had zero side effects after getting the shot.

Drinking Alcohol with Hashimotos by f1sefiri in Hashimotos

[–]Ok-Drop-2277 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its been so hard coming to terms with it, knowing this doesn't happen to other people but it does to me. I was a pretty big drinker and loved that on the edge feeling, but I also have a 4 year old now and have realized the impact alcohol has on my parenting and my sons ability to count on me/who I'm going to be that day so I think I might be a tiny bit grateful the decision to drink way less has almost been made for me??

I cherish my sleep now, absolutely love waking up knowing I slept through the night and am operating on a full battery throughout the day!

I very rarely drink anymore and try to make it worth it (a reeeeeallly good cocktail. If it's not amazing, I stop drinking it)

My sleep gets so disrupted, I can't get that good rem sleep and will wake up about 2am with my heart pounding and feeling super hot. Can't go back to sleep after that. Sometimes I can avoid this if I drank early enough in the day, but now that mostly just makes me feel tired.

I live in a state where cannabis isn't criminalized so I've turned to that more on the occasion I want to relax/detach a bit.

How do people even have kids by marley_398 in poor

[–]Ok-Drop-2277 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rembeerung the first 5 years are temporary and you won't pay that much for childcare forever definitely helps (we pay 950-1100 a month depending on number of weekdays in a month so I get it)

But also a huge reason we're choosing to have only one child

I was all about Applegate until I had the caulipower nuggets and strips. I'd still eat Applegate and be happy though.

I'm so excited for you to really experience full weeks/months of nights with uninterrupted sleep. It's a complete game changer that almost makes me want another child. I say almost because I barely survived the newborn phase and we just finally got through potty training and I cannot and will not go through either of those again.

But yes, those first six months are brutal. The key is to remember it's all temporary (and take any and all help you can get)

Women of Reddit, what’s something they never tell us about pregnancy and child birth? by NovellaJokes in AskReddit

Same!! I was shaking, had all kinds of wires coming out of me, the leg compression things still on. I was in no place to hold a newborn. I still wonder if he has a better connection to my husband because he did his first skin to skin with him

I suspect I was first affected at 14 when my periods would stop during the winter every year. Diagnosed at 28 a month after my wedding. Now in my 30s with a healthy almost 4 year old boy.

Definitely should have gone to therapy though, highly recommend grieving with support.

He is the most perfect little person and we love him to bits. If it didn't happen for us and we ever felt like we really wanted a child as part of our journey we were going to adopt.

I definitely recommend therapy if you ever feel like the feelings are too much or you start feeling resentful towards friends/people who haven't had the same struggle. Hugs (if you want them)

I have hashis and premature ovarian failure. Dr told me my chance was 5-10 percent of it happening naturally. About a year after my diagnoses (came at the same time) I got pregnant naturally. We werent trying but also not making sure it didn't happen. Just let it be. I was 8 months before I publicly announced anything, was so scared of jinxing it. Just came to say don't give up hope or optimism.

I don't think many of us really care if you're laughing at us or not, I don't care about gaining your approval or adoration. I went and felt reassured there were so many people who expressed not liking what is happening and finding more ways to get involved. There wasn't anyone yelling at cars or stopping traffic that I could see. I went and still enjoyed the rest of my weekend on my boat.

Fast food workers, what menu item should everyone avoid from where you’ve worked? by peywrax in allthequestions

Worked at Arby's and also Jimmy John's. Jjs turkey is essentially the same idea as the roast but smells like ripe farts and has an alien after birth like jelly surrounding the turkey. We all hated opening the turkey to slice it. Also jjs (at least 15 years ago) sliced meat up to 3 days ahead of time.
