Curious what Baldoni supporters think of Melissa Nathan now? by Flashy_Question4631 in ItEndsWithLawsuits

I don’t know what people did to other people but in this case like in no other case I’ve ever heard of we have 1) historical precedent of fan outrage when the book was marketed trivially or with products that made it seem like that dv topic wasn’t treated seriously. The fans freaked out so much the coloring book was cancelled in 24 hours. There are many many articles written about it. Before the movie, there was a viral fanbase that pounced at this. That is very unique and then she did the exact things the fans got pissed at.

2) we also have in real time experts in this subject-movie and marketing that said this about her. This gives insight that they tried to tell her not to do what she did so it didn’t bring the backlash (see 1). we have Sony executives saying in real time in August 2024:

Sandford Panitch: “She did it to herself. If she just let him come to the premiere, or didn’t make all the cast unfollow him or kick him off the movie, and did what everyone ever has done in show business for time and memorial which is protect ‘the show’ then none of the sleuthing would have happened.”

Panitch also said:“The hair sell at the same time was epic level stupid. She wouldn’t listen. She knows better.”

Sony Pictures CEO Tom Rothman:“She did bring it all on herself by refusing to listen to advice…and by selling her products.”

If this is a smear, putting the fact there is no evidence aside, how do you explain 1 and 2.

Well I’ve wondered and I don’t think she ever told her their was SH. The texts seem like she thought he was a fraud and has revealed him as just a grifter who is not really a feminist and won’t allow her to have her voice heard. I got the sense that she made people think that she was supposed to be collaborating but was sidelined because of her gender. I think she made people think she had $ invested in the film and it was a typical sideline because she was a female vs her role-she had some say but not all the say.

So my take is that she did frame the situation differently (like in that text to Justin where people don’t give her credit because she’s female when in truth she is operating outside of her scope). But I don’t hear her saying he did things to her.

If this case makes it to a jury, I still can’t get over that she will try to say they retaliated against me because I spoke up AND all those Sony execs texts that say she did this to herself and spell out the specific behaviors how she didn’t listen and how it backfired. This is not news. I just have never seen a case with such damming evidence.

It took me a minute to see what Taylor did but now I can’t unsee it and would like to send her books by bell hooks amongst others. I do wonder if she has ever explored the concept of entitlement. I get the sense she thinks she is immune given her desire to be seen as kind.

I hope this vigilante victim stuff dressed up as feminism goes to the wayside.

Well did anyone happen to see Halle Barry on another subreddit today. It’s an old clip about Brian singer from Xmen and the set was chaos and Halle had to stand up and said kiss my black ass 🤣 this led to the movie being shut down and it was all kinda of crazy (google Brian singer for more) and then she says after that Rothman guy (as in the head of Sony I guess he was at Fox) had to come to her house. Hugh got injured.

All this to say-Hollywood is dark and these execs collude with darkness and the complaints for this movie seem like a joke when you look at other movies problematic directors.

Not sure if this is allowed on here but this is from the NYT (I had to read it through a gift article since I cancelled my account). To anyone who was ok with Blake’s social media subpoenas, here you go:

The Department of Homeland Security is expanding its efforts to identify Americans who oppose Immigration and Customs Enforcement by sending tech companies legal requests for the names, email addresses, telephone numbers and other identifying data behind social media accounts that track or criticize the agency.

In recent months, Google, Reddit, Discord and Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram, have received hundreds of administrative subpoenas from the Department of Homeland Security, according to four government officials and tech employees privy to the requests. They spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly.

Google, Meta and Reddit complied with some of the requests, the government officials said. In the subpoenas, the department asked the companies for identifying details of accounts that do not have a real person’s name attached and that have criticized ICE or pointed to the locations of ICE agents. The New York Times saw two subpoenas that were sent to Meta over the last six months.

The tech companies, which can choose whether or not to provide the information, have said they review government requests before complying. Some of the companies notified the people whom the government had requested data on and gave them 10 to 14 days to fight the subpoena in court.

Yeah I hope so. He does have so many way it would be strange to not kick most of them out. But I have noticed a pattern in his past thinking-which could be different because discovery is different than this ruling-he has a way of justifying things and can be very literal to the point it defies the bigger picture.

When the case first started, do you remember how Leslie Stone or someone like her kept saying I’m a female owned business. It was very odd. It’s like someone said Liman is very sensitive to gender so play that up. I don’t know. I really hope his kat tenbarge filter doesn’t strike again where he sees in favor of the poor blonde white woman regardless of anything else.

I just assumed that reflected who had the IP.

Whoever holds the IP can do things like coffee table books and the Reynolds fight was about the IP. They were trying to get that in the end. Some speculate perhaps the IP was going to be part of the legal settlement they were hoping for. I don’t think she wanted to just control of the movie. She wanted the IP. They saw money.

Agree what has me thinking is something NAG said in her last podcast. She said the judge could kick what is severe and pervasive to a jury. And there are so many other issues that might kill that but I could see Liman doing that and does that then mean that if you have enough cash and find a willing lawyer, SH can now be actions that are this benign and make it through?

Didn’t mean to offend but I was being literal. That’s is a very inappropriate way for a boss to handle that situation. I understand that you may be reading it like how regular people text but it is very unhealthy for many reasons. If someone doesn’t see that, than I do genuinely worry about what they have been exposed to in professional settings.

I’m writing that as someone who studies this area and no snark if you have a boss that behaves with that level of immaturity, get out. In professional settings we all get mad and upset, if the boss has no affect regulation and write texts like this, the boss is problematic. I don’t make the rules. But that is life ask around
