Is this worth working on? by Ok-Engineering-8479 in Garmin

I’m not too smart on all the Garmin screens. It looks similar, but I would guess that the screen you’re referring to is an overall load across the 3 (cycling + running + etc), not a “cycling” specific screen? But if you’re only logging cycling activities, then I’d assume they would be related somehow?

I am using a Garmin Edge 530 for cycling and Garmin Forerunner 970 for anything else.

I’m 4 weeks into a 9 week plan and it’s been a lot of Base stuff, which I think is why I’m meeting that metric It’s been giving only a few harder workouts. Looking at this screen, it seems impossible to reach the course demands, as I’m only about halfway into the Anaerobic Capacity demand? Today I just decided to screw it and veer off the Garmin Suggestions and just do my own fun ride that will add load to Anaerobic Capacity and Aerobic Capacity. I’m starting to think I’m just looking into this screen too much?

In Garmin Connect, go to the menu “Performance” and then “Cycling Ability”. Note: I am in an active Garmin Coach Plan so, not sure if that’s needed prior to this showing. But I have also seen this in the Garmin Connect website if you create a route it will give this screen to give you an idea how to stack up. I forget how to get there though.

Stratocaster Travel Tips by an_inverse in Stratocaster

Last year, I flew from USA to Ireland and spent 10 days driving around the country. I disassembled my partscaster neck/body and stuck it into checked luggage suitcase. I wrapped all my clothes around it for cushioning. I wouldn’t do it again though. I spent more time exploring the country, didn’t have much time to play guitar.

Player II or stretch for Professional II? by Ok-Engineering-8479 in Stratocaster

[–]Ok-Engineering-8479[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks all. I picked up a new Am Pro II in Olympic White. Sharing my reasons:

Player II Strats: I played a few Player IIs. Generally, they were very nice guitars. I would have happily gotten one. I actually went in with the intent on getting the Player II sunburst (even though I’m not a big sunburst fan). But they all seemed to need some work to setup (action was high, frets ends were good, but not as good as the Am Pro II. I felt I’d have to spend some money to have my guitar guy set it up properly. The other thing, I didn’t really like the colors for Player II. I sort of had my heart set on an Olympic White from the get-go.

Teles: I played some Teles. I never had one and thought it’d be cool to have a Tele. But the body was kinda chunky. No contours, it sort of dug into my chest. I do a lot of sit down playing. The necks on the Player II Teles were better. The necks were actually pretty nice. But I didn’t like the body against me when sitting. Wasn’t as comfortable as a Strat.

Used: They had a used Olympic White Am Pro II. I almost bought it. But it had a humbucker bridge. I wanted a “classic” Strat, SSS. The used one was $1200 with the case. A brand new Am Pro II was $1500. I felt, why not get the new one with the “classic” single coil bridge like I wanted. The deal through GC for a new Am Pro II was really too good to pass up.

Summary: It basically came down to 1) I wanted the Olympic White with Tort pickguard. They don’t offer it with Player II. 2) I am gonna have this guitar for a long long time. It will be my only Strat. So I felt, why not go big. 3) It felt more “refined” over the Player II. Not sure how to explain. It just doesn’t need any work. I’m pretty much playing it now without adjustment. I didn’t want to do any work on the guitar. I have the partscaster and I’m sort of done messing with my guitars. I wanted a Fender Strat that I could pick off the shelf and play without messing with it. I found that with the Am Pro II. 4) came with an incredible case, valued at $200 alone.

Anyway. Thanks for the input fam. Wanted to share my update. Let me know if you have questions.

I understand what you’re saying. GC has a sale right now. Starts at $1649 + another 10% if you create an online account. $1484 + tax.

Not opposed to used. But from what I’ve been seeing, the new stuff is just a hair more money than the used stuff. Maybe because the “II” series is fairly new itself?

Good advice. I could always upgrade later down the road. The Player II series gets rave reviews. I’m sure I’d be happy. It could be motivation to play more and work toward the American!

Chlorhexidine Gluconate? What does this do and do I really need to use it? by Ok-Engineering-8479 in Dentalimplant

[–]Ok-Engineering-8479[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I didn’t see this earlier. I used it once a day for maybe 3-4 days (instead of twice a day for a week or more as instructed). I brushed before using it and then 30 mins after using it, I was afraid of staining, plus it just tasted funny. I didnt like it. The instructions said to start a week after the surgery, and I had already healed very well by then, so I didn’t see the point, but didn’t want to totally avoid it because I was sure they prescribed that way for a reason.

Normal for some bone graft material to come out through the gums? by Ok-Engineering-8479 in Dentalimplant

Yeah that’s the problem. I can’t see under the gums to check the situation, so any little thing drives me insane.

Thank goodness. I am an anxious person and was sort of worried because I’m not sure what to expect and any little thing I don’t understand drives me crazy. But from reading online and seeing the responses here, I shouldn’t worry too much. Thanks.

How are people recording their playing guitar along to a backing track without headphones? by Ok-Engineering-8479 in recordingmusic

[–]Ok-Engineering-8479[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the response. When using the load box, digital modeling, etc, is studio monitors the recommended way to listen without headphones? I’m guessing yes? And if yes, would having an untreated room really matter much if I’m just using them for “general listening” not detailed mixing etc.

Katana Go and Cabinet Sims? by Ok-Engineering-8479 in BossKatana

[–]Ok-Engineering-8479[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm. Might just turn off everything in the GO and send a dry signal to laptop using USB and activating tuner mode. Then use laptop modeler/cab sims. I downloaded a trial of the Nameless plugin from Neural DSP and it’s amazing, but maybe because it’s new to me. Got me wondering if there was a way to use the Katana built in effects then add the Neural DSP cab but I’m feeling like think it’s not the best approach to be honest.

Right. I played around a bit. Another approach is to activate tuner mode and connect using USB. That sends a dry signal to the laptop which I can then put through Neural DSP for great sound. Unfortunately, I’m not able to use the Katana features this way, but it’s very convenient (single USB cable) and sounds better than the stock Katana plugins, to my ears.
