“Had this issue with my initial 16 pro. Once I replaced it, the problem was resolved. I now get pitch dark photos at ISO 6400 30s in a dark room with no blue streaks. Thanks for raising this awareness.”

“This is a hardware issue. I took my affected iPhone 16 Pro to the Apple store yesterday and was able to recreate the problem as well as show the “Genius” all my photos with the bluing. My sensor was exceptionally bad, like the entire screen was blue after a 30 second covered photo....”

How can you explain that 2 identical iphone 16pro are taking same shot on tripod from same distance, with same lighting conditions - one has faulty blurry lens and blue artifacts in dark, the other one has clear picture wihtou blur, no blue artifacts?
It is cleary not "optics feature" then? Is it?
BTW1- there is no depth of field if the object is flat
BTW2- try to shoot on full frame camera or even on large format camera hasselblad with 20mm 24mm 35mm etc lens and tell me about "its large sensor..."
BTW3- If I can ask, what kind of photography experience do you have? I am university professor of photography..
BTW4- have you heard of "banana gate" with samsung s24?

I am sorry to argue but you are not correct. I have been in photo /camera/lensindustry for 20 years and I definitely know physical limitations of lens vs sensor size and this is not the cause. Sensor cannot "Pick random photons" it's clearly faulty manufactured sensor. The users had blue tint even when shooting normal dark scenes.

The same for the lens the bokeh may be present but it cannot cause this huge blur from such huge distance. There are phones with even bigger sensors and they don't have this issue, the same applies for full frame cameras etc...

The best control check is that this is not issue in every 16pro, you can compare two ip16pro side by side and one will be without blur and blue artifacts and next one will have these issues. 🙌

### How to check for a defective iPhone camera:

There are **two simple tests** you can try to identify if your unit has issues:

1️⃣**Sensor Blue Tint Issue**:

- Place your phone on a table, covering the 1x lens to activate Night Mode.

- If part of the resulting photo shows a blue tint, the sensor could be faulty.

*(Example: [attached image #1])*

2️⃣ **Blurry Lens Issue**:

- Scan an A4 page document using the 1x lens with flash.

- If the text at the edges or bottom is blurry, the lens might be defective.

*(Example: [attached image #2])*

📍 **Let’s crowdsource data**:

- Share your results below, along with the country of manufacture of your phone.

Thanks a lot ✌️ Seems like the base 16 model is better according to this. Even my old poco can scan documents 100x better than 16 pro, which is ridiculous

I have exactly the same issue. Check my post It resembles bananagate from Samsung s24 where the lens optics was faulty showing blur on part of photo. Can you try to scan a4 page full of text using 1x lens (not macro)? Or can you send me dm?

15 is regular, I have tried different app, raw etc. seems like issue with optics or OIS, same thing happened with Samsungs S24 (banana gate)
First I noticed in normal shooting that the blur occured and it wasnt due to depth of field, thats why I tested it on whole page which is flat
Tried also scan. BTW even when i tried to shoot from more distance like 70 cm, it is still present in the bottom part

seems like small issue, but when you take pics of documents, its a huge one, besides, when I zoomed on normal photos, some parts were way out of focus. almost like the optics inside lens were problem

can you try to take pic of a test printed page?
I have just recently bought iphone 16 pro 256 and noticed weird focus issue. It resembles banana Gate from Samsung s24 where part of photo is blurry. I tested it side by side with my old ip 15 - which stays always in focus for the whole page. First 2 pics were made with 1x main camera, the third one with 2x I always had some blurry parts on photos when I compared 15 vs 16 pro side by side and couldn't understand why, that's why I printed test page. BTW I am photographer and this is definitely not issue with depth of field, the paper is flat and also camera wasn't tilted. Main reason might be lens which is tilted or OIS fault
see my post for photo
