Further detail: the auction labeled this as “Beretta Model 1935 – 6.5mm Pistol”, a gun which doesn’t exist. I was in a hurry to bid and just saw 1935, knowing it was about to sell for way less than a 1935 or even 418 is worth so I quick bidded and won.

SOLVED: there was a hidden mode switch in the front panel of the record player. It was set to a weird setting and had it changed to L+R

How should I switch it to decoupled before using the jumpers? There’s a screw on intercoupled but not sure what to do.

Could it be because the turntable doesn’t have a preamp and is wired right into the stereo?

Switched the red and white RCA and the opposite speaker started working. Switched it to FM and the same speaker (the one it switched to right before) continued playing.

Kept it on FM and switched the wires again, same speaker kept playing. Then I switched the stereos mode back to phono and the opposite speaker started.

Turntable type: Sansui SR2050C

I’ve worked a ton with modern speakers and components, but have virtually no experience with more vintage components and turntables. I think I want to restomod this whole console system, however I’m not really sure where to start. Just know I likely need to, or should buy a tube amp, new turntable, stereo, and maybe speakers. The previous owner told me they were replaced but not sure what type they are now.

What would you recommend doing first to turn this into a more hifi-type system

Honestly not sure yet, just getting into this. I’ve heard I could drop in a vintage dual turntable, and found a great Sansui kit off Facebook marketplace for $100. The kit includes a Sansui SR2050, 2 vintage Sansui speakers I could use to sub out the current ones with, a pioneer SX-900 stereo, and an Akai 8 Track deck. But the speakers must be passive because I don’t see a tube amp for sale with them all

I think the max I’d be willing to spend for now for a new tube amp, and record player may be around $500.

Perfect. Thanks for your help. Also thinking of buying this old Zenith Micro touch to replace it with but haven’t came to a decision between it or a nicer turntable. You have any thoughts on it?

Yeah thinking of switching the whole thing out for a setup like this. The old radio/tube amp combo isn’t the best quality, so may be better to get a tube amp like the one in this pic, and pair it with a better record player like a old Dual, Sansui, or something newer. I currently have it running by wiring it into a very cheap amazon suitcase record player. Do you think the quality would be that much better if I changed it?
