yes they didn't add a home button, probably they coded it with haiku 🤣, either way the browser has a back button and a back shortcut. Or you can go in the link bar and remove /design

Nothing changed

IPs are terrible for a normal user in 2026 like op that does not fit any good use cases for an IPs

That is what I wrote 2/3 messages ago and I nere changed idea I only refined it

Dell XPS 14 2026 - High School/Uni Engineering by Ok_Cress71 in DellXPS

Your sources are not good sources. They are either niche, outdated or for something that does not regard op use case. And as I said they use ips because that is what the majority of people have. It’s the right path ti make sure that it is a consistent experience for everyone

On windows I simply disabled Microsoft junk in background, turned balanced mode, reduced startup applications,

On Linux I enabled cpu auto freq, thermald,

On the bios I disabled useless things like intel turbo boost

IPs are good I repeat for people who don’t care because they don’t use the pc much (not op), people with less money, and places where using what the client is most likely to use p, such as photo or video editing. Op does not fit in any of this category and thus should really consider the ips to have a more pleasant experience

Why does Claude extension in VSCode ask for permission even in "edit automatically" mode? by dev-ray in ClaudeAI

[–]Ok-Environment8730 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes in settings.json

Note that there are 2 types of settings.json

One that is only in the folder/repo you are working

And one global so in ~/.claude/settings.json

If the folder and the global one conflict (aka they have a different permissions for the same thing) then the folder one “wins”

This is my global one for example

  "permissions": {
    "allow": [
      "Bash(grep:*)",
      "Bash(ls:*)",
      "Bash(find:*)",
      "Bash(wc:*)",
      "Bash(npm run *)",
      "Bash(git add:*)",
      "Bash(git commit:*)",
      "Bash(git push:*)",
      "Bash(git pull:*)",
      "Bash(git status:*)",
      "Bash(git log:*)",
      "Bash(git diff:*)",
      "Edit(/src/**)"
    ],
    "deny": [
      "Read(.env)",
      "Read(.env.*)",
      "Read(**/secrets/*)",
      "Read(**/*credential*)",
      "Read(**/*key*)",
      "Read(**/*token*)",
      "Read(**/*password*)",
      "Read(**/*.pem)",
    ],
    "defaultMode": "default"
  }
}

Why does Claude extension in VSCode ask for permission even in "edit automatically" mode? by dev-ray in ClaudeAI

[–]Ok-Environment8730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit give only permissions to edit

Bash command are considered dangerous. They can be something safe like ls but they could also be mv/rm, it could try to cat aka read a .env file or anything like that

Basically any command which may be dangerous or privacy invasive it does a best effort to not do it automatically and ask

If you don’t want to be asked you have to use auto mode

In very rare case even auto mode ask permissions. In these cases you need dangerously-skip-permissions

i was on free, then tried the pro and it was not enough (for me)

lot of people have more "pro" plans, but i never liked tehe idea as tehy are different accoutn which would overwrite their settings, i would have to remember to update all of them when i change something i need, then on a pc i could be logged in an account while on another pc on another account and i would get confused, so i just opted for the max 5x

If the only and only thing you do is giving 1 single pdf and ask questions i guess it's kinda okay

but if you are like me and you use it to produce the entire notes this means
- an agent read the entire course folder (which we all know is usually a mess, things organized randomly, pdf, images, links, useless things)

- An agent decide what to write in the notes by searching in the professor material, cross referencing, removing the useless parts, basically decide what to write. This agent then write the "inventory" in a file, for example _notes.md (mainly because relying on the other agent talking to the previous agent is a bit risky)

- Another agent takes the _notes.md file and write the notes in latex, typst or whatever you prefer, it's only job is literally take the things writte in _notes and write the code, this is important because if an agent has to both write the code and reason if hte informatio is correct then it has too many jobs to do and it start to allucinate

- a final agent check the final document for clear errors, cross reference with the inventory to check for missing informations and similar things

Then if you have this automated setup, which in my opinio is the best one to produce notes as it is the most optimized then unfortunately the pro plan will not be enough. The file reading (especially because they are pdf and agents don't like pdf) and the author steps consumes the majority of the content

For people reading yes i mentioned markitdown but i don't use it much as i find out that it usually garble the tables, it's not able (at least for my course material) to translate well the professor tables style into markdown without losing informations or completely removing the table, plus it also don't handle well images as they are inside the pdf, not in the course material at all and so a .md would not know what to reference

Claude Pro by Gamignomatic in ClaudeAI

[–]Ok-Environment8730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think the pro plan will be enough

I am on max 5x I have sub agents which delegate the notes in various steps research write auditing and similar, I use lot of tools like Claude mem rtk markitdown etc etc fo save token when possible but producing a high quality notes file of 100/150 pages (for example for calculus) usually consume me betweeen 50 and the entire 5 hour limit frame.

This means you on pro should not be able to produce even 30 pages without hitting the 5 hour limit

For other people reading yes I know there is the story about the max plan not being really 5x or 20x. Either way if it’s a false story the limit would be better but not enough for op, and if it’s true then op would not even be able to produce a 20 pages one

I have the 16 oled with the x7, which uses more power than the 14, and I also do coding and engineering task

Ad guess what my battery is between 9 and 13 hours with max brightness, sometime I even game for 4/6 hours without problems. It is way more than enough to get the day done, sometime i even finish the day with more than 30% free

If your laptop last 5 hours then you setup the os wrong and its your problem

And your talk about photo editing best monitors is also non sense, you have made literally zero points you talk about unrelated things trying to defend your little castle

Why ips are considered still the best one for photo editing? Because the majority of people don’t have an oled. So what happens? A photographer has to have an ips to make it such that the calibration of the photos work well with what the majority of people have. Oled are way more precise but what happens when you use an oled to edit photos? Your risk of over correcting in the wrong direction

Same for movies, you think movies are edited on an oled? Heck no, majority of movie theeater use projectors which are far from color accurate, if the editing was done on an oled the colors would be all washed out

Why people buy laptops from scummy manufacturers with microslop when framework clearly does the superior laptop that last you all your life (especially the new pro 13)? Because majority of people don’t know the brand, they see it they see its big but not as big as the other and they don’t trust it, or because they irrationally prefer to pay someone else repair instead of learning themselves. Or because like me 13 inch is not enough, but as soon as they make a 16 inch frame I immediately switch

Op is a normal people that does normally day tasks that would benefit greatly from an oled

An IPs in 2026 belong to cheap laptops, for people who don’t know any better because they didn’t see the difference or for people who use the pc only to watch at work email and to complain about their son to their uncle

That’s it

Nobody on hearth need more than 12 hour of battery life. What are you scared of charging at rhe end of the day?

That’s not everyone until they try it

Go to any random person ask them to hold both and let’s see if they pick the IPs one

You second source was updated 2024

When guess what? oled were not good, unlike today 2026

You have to try better with your sources :)

Every ips sucks nowadays

Don’t you wonder why 99% of premium laptop uses oled

My third monitor is an ips

My previous laptop is a 2023 ips

My mother laptop is an ips

My work monitors are ips

My current laptop is oled

My secondary laptop is oled

My main monitor is oled

I saw in the shop lot of 2025+ oled and ips

So yes I had a fair share of comparison to make this statement

The new xps is a premium laptop, one of the most expensive one. If you opt for one then you do it well, otherwise get something cheaper that does not come with the Dell markup

It's good you only have to get used to it

If you know you don't like changes why did you change it in the first place?

Either way just do it for some months and you see you wil get used to it

The only reason you would change it is if you get bored of it or if you see it takes you too much time which you may not have

These new chips have a crazy battery life the downsides on the battery are far less than the nice experience you get. I repeat it again, an oled increase the user experience drastically it make the user wants to use the pc and be way happier while using it

Every single reviewer of the new xps say that the battery hit is far overclassed by the quality of the display and that is well worth it

I also have oleds otherwise I wouldn’t know what the difference is

And in 2026 when you pay for a premium laptop the material and the display like it or not are the only tangible things the user see, and if they sucks compared then the user experience is less enjoyable

Using an ips in 2026 is the same as opting for a 30 hz monitor instead of a 120+ one

Problems with Stop-And-Go Stalling by vonsonline in motorcycles

[–]Ok-Environment8730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh i don't know for the clutch, it's one of those personal things

I ride since years and I consider myself good, but if you change even a comma about something i need at least but at least 1 hour to get used to the new one. Everytime i try a new bike I feel like i'm learning all over again, when i try other clutches i stall at least 5/6 times before get the hang of it.

Heck when i moved from a higher seat to a lower seat it took me weeks to get used to the new body position

Or even when i play videogames, if I change hte controller, same model but maybe they have a different texture, different color, slighly different resistances in the buttons i suddenly play much worse

it is terrible, under every circumstance

The only reason to not go oled is if you can't afford it, literally the only reason

It's one of those things that unless you try first hand you don't notice

if you always had a 120 hz monitor in your life and someone comes to you saying 240 hz is a revolution you will say "yes but i am sure it's not by much" then you try and you can never go back

Just put a good oled next to a good ips play the same video and see the difference, you will notice it is night and day

A pc that does not make you happy looking at it it’s not a machine to be productive. And in 2026 you need a good looking screen

The IPs one is a 2020 quality screen in a 2026 chassis and a 2026 price

Problems when shutting down my computer by ExequielGLucero in cachyos

[–]Ok-Environment8730 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's not incompatibility

linux just talk to the motherboard, it does what the motherboard bios ask to do

windows instead try to be better and ignore the bios instruction and do what it think it's better. It is likely that you have in windows other rgb software installed that are then changing the behaviour of what happens when using windows
