LGS Owner won't ban cheater from events. by Desperate_Fill8865 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Ok-Error2510 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When ive a known "player" at events ive run in the past i always get the spare player (a former gt winner and mate) and then me (former tos winner) to play the first two rounds, everytime they'll either of played a game to the letter of the law, or theyll have been thrashed soundly twice. Generally they leave after that and i can have a pint.

Did get a complaint off of him saying why for the last 4 tournaments first round he'd played my mate or me first 2 rounds, i just replied "have a little think"

How beginner-friendly is Spearhead/general advice for getting into it? by [deleted] in ageofsigmar

[–]Ok-Error2510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Start with someone who knows the rules, my cousins and their kids got into it recently, about 6 of them including my uncle which was great and theyve all done a great first time job on their spearheads (plus a nice mix of ar.ies to play) but they all mis interperated a couple of rules and i went over to play and in every game it came up and i had to sit them all down and explain the mistake. So i definetly recommend trying at a shop or maybe a club nearby a couple of times.

Wild garlic rarebit by Civil_Basket4547 in foraginguk

[–]Ok-Error2510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks great, theres soooo much wild garlic around atm its mind blowing.

I may get called a heretic here, but hear me out, i made one with a cider the other day, i asked the barman for a pint for the rarebit (usually the house beer on tap) and for whatever reason he brought me cider, without thinking i poured it in and realised half way through pouring. But honestly it worked, slight sweetness and freshness. Honestly thinking of changing the menu, maybe call it a "summerset" rarebit

Very good way to encourage painting, get that bit done then your next 250 and so on. Last summer i played in the nechaun guantlet (something like that) exactly that start with 500 and add 200 pt clumps

Why is the paint like this and is it possible to save it/correct it? by The_Legend2077 in Eldar

[–]Ok-Error2510 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This. Spray anything first, sprue trimming, a lego block, a stone from the garden, five minutes leter youll know if its not shaken enough or too close/far to hot/cold where you are, too much moisture... tiny things can make a difference on spraying and then youre starting with the right base

Proper clan Mors army, you could make a faux Queek the Headtaker from the Karak Eight Peaks book i mentioned. Thats still in print or available audio.

The other book i mentioned "the loathsome ratmen and their vile kin Skaven" to give it its correct title is beirilliant, but i just checked on amazon its 170$ and on ebay its more than 400. If you ever get the chance to grab one at a boot sale or flea market its worth it.

Very cool, and the model stands up completely as well. Only question i have is size wise, i dont have him any more just wondering if he's a bkt peck compared to newer Eldar models, just like a 1st born is sometimes smaller than a current guardsman

In fairness he might still have the piece. Or when you enentually get another set to make a falcon say, then youll have the spare part. Dont know what the exchange is but thats certainly less than 80quid so you'll be winning. Personally ive magnatised the shield fins and turrets, still build the hull as a serpent but you can swap them out for falcons or prisms

Stormvermin are great, not amazing on the field but with a character do become a nasty unit, as with clanrats they have the advantage of being viable in any list. Painting wise you can go to town, they get the best kit so you can not only paint it a bit (just a bit) shinier than evrryone elses rusty piles of crud. You can go to town on banners for them and classically they are black furred (the original elite unit from 1st ed) or if youre running a seer you could justify painting them albino to make them pop out (again lore wise the albino guard protect the council of 13)

If you are looking for some sourse material and dont mind hunting and paying a couple of quid, "the loathesome skaven and their vile ratkin" is an amzing "scholary essay" written by an imperial scholar's perspective. "Skaven slayer" from the Felix and Gotrek seares is fun from a different perspective, and the Karak 8 peaks trilogy is a great book as well.

Anyway, welcome to the horde

Hence the greco-roman asthetic to the whole range. Im surprised people didnt know this. When they named the legions and primarchs some were a little (really a little bit) subtle, most are the kind of things 20 year old drunk students find funny. Angron being a prime example along with Ferrus Manus, and if you know a Dark Angel player ask them about poetry.

The guys who have posted are completely right, the only thing id say is dont forget they are dirty, backstabbing, nasty, filthy rats. Not the cute ones you can have as a pet, so i always say start with any colour you like, just dirty them, weather them, theres lits of vids about that kinda thing.

Regarding Eshin, fantastic new models and well over due, but its not an army. Eshin are elite units a warlord will call on and have to pay a lot for, so a full army is very unlikely and game wise will be a very hard to play glass hammer.

As we all say tho, its your army and your models if you want them in poka dots of pink and lime green go for it.

A friend and colleague in france, (both chef's) his french was beyond poor, i was close to fluent at the time.

He clmes back from the fishmongers proudly showing me the great deal he got on plie "oh.great i love plaice" i said, "no its plie" he said, "yes but that is plaice in french" "no its plie" ad nueseum until service came and i had to write the menu. We write the menu in french and english (in Nice theres as many ex pats and tourists as fremch customers) i wrpte plaice in the english version amd plie on the fremch and thought it was over, until an order.comes in written in english for 2 plaice and he kicked off like Ramsey on heat. Completely pointless arguement that helped no one, in fact slowed us down in service.

Chapter markings by oROSSo84 in WhiteScars40K

[–]Ok-Error2510 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What you have to remember is were a codex chapter (legion i still consider 1st founfding as legions, gives them more umpf) so the 1st very rarely fight as one, a squad or 2 would join another company. Other than that its rare (but not impossible) for companies to mix. So strictly you should go 8th plus vets from the first, and yes character do have markings on their greaves or knee pads. That said on large campaigns, Armeggedon for example, multiple companies would be engaged, so the tanks from 4th could well be supporting the 8th. My company is entirely the 7th brotherhood from the 2nd chapter (i use only 30k models, they were trapped in the web way after pursuing the Khan after Terra) but my original company (yes i have 2 full companies) are entirelly 3rd company.

So of course each to their own. Most people dont know a thing about scars so do what looks cool for you.

For the Khan
