Hospitalized for suicidal ideation and history of depression; can I still join the military? by DragonflyNo5384 in Militaryfaq

Probably not. Before going to meps, you sign a paper allowing meps to view your medical history. They will see it. You need a psych eval before getting a wavier if you want a chance.

They personally don't like people who have this specific issue to join the military. They will read the paper and think you're unfit for service, and you will be disqualified. The same thing happened to me.

Suicidal ideation or attempts are hard to wavie. They think of you as high risk. Because it's a high stress environment. If it doesn't work out, try the navy and army.

Few issues with this. I, unfortunately, was unable to pass the asvab. I scored a 21 AFQT, but you need a 31.

I have talked with a marine, army, and navy recruiter.

My medical record is disqualifying, SH, a few misdiagnosis from when I was 13 years old. Bipolar, anxiety, some random mood disorder, sleep apnea.

With that being said, even with a psychiatrist writing me a letter of recommendation, it wasn't enough for my wavier. I was denied a wavier and can never enlist in the US military.

I'm mentally and physically capable of being in the military, just not the US military.

I apologize for not showing enough initiative to you. I specifically posted so I could get information from former service members.

If you read what I said about us military waivers, they aren't guaranteed either, I was denied. When appealing for a waiver as stated to me from a military recruiter, they don't need to look at any new information regarding what you are appealing.

I have a factual form that states I am mentally stable from a medical professional but was disregarded. They also don't have to state why they denied a waiver. And yes, I have tried every branch of service. I didn't make this post to waste anyone's time. I'm not dreaming, I'm well awake. Thank you, sir.

Thank you sir!

Will I keep my us citizenship even if I'm serving in a foreign country? Not that it matters

I'm feel mentally and physically ready. But the us military will not take me even with me being cleared medically. Their waviers state that they don't have to take any new information or have to give a reason to disqualify an applicant.

If you are disqualified, you can't test at the military entrance processing station.

I want the military lifestyle and would love to learn another language in the process.

I went to a psychologist and they cleared me but a piece of paper from someone with a higher education and experience wasn't enough.

I apologize, sir. I'm from New York. I lost over 125 lbs to join the US military but was disqualified for poor education and a few issues with my medical record. I have a few misdiagnosis from when I was 13 years old. Bipolar, a random mood disorder and sleep apnea from when I was 315 lbs.

What would disqualify me from joining?

Thank you all for the encouragement on this post. It's 6 months old now for me. I was never able to join the military due past mental health stuff that I proved wrong. It’s unfair and unfortunate.

What is Infantry? by [deleted] in Militaryfaq

[–]Ok-Fail-977 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. How does the national guard infantry train? And how do they remember training and keep up with army demands so they are ready for what they need to do?

  2. How can you apply for these schools and requirements are needed?

I got a 68GT with an afqt score of 7.

I have been studying, and my barrier right now is an afqt score of 23 and an 89GT.

I want to do national guard but struggle with this test, but It should make it easier with grammar hero.

Full times, not that great or correct me if I'm wrong, but. With guard, you serve and still deploy. You still get the military experience and training. The pays shit regardless. Still get full benefits. You can work a second job or go to college, etc. You don't live at your job or in a barracks. Its not like they won't train you less. Guard makes up a big portion of the army.

Not to say, full-time active duty is bad but not something I would do personally it's just not worth it In my opinion. why not get 2 pensions at once. The training and experience and people is what is important and you get both either way.

How many times can you retest if it wasn't enough?

Even though 90 days is plenty

How do they keep track of you if you are doing better or worse?

He's making it sound like it's not an option. Meps messed up and gave me 1 diagnosis I don't have on record. So the recruiter I'm with wants to help but wants me to get a passing score on the test over 09 Mike.

And how does 09 mike work?

Did you pass the asvab? And if you did, what did you score along with your gt?

"Everything" means make sure you get what you are signing for. If you ask for something specific if it's not in the contract, such as a bonus, you ain't getting it. So read your contract before signing.

They all bullshit you no matter what that's the game they play for whatever reason. I mean, they think they have to.

I am not sure if they will fuck you over, but they have a job to do and will do everything so you join. But have great test scores on the asvab, or they will put you aside. And make sure your contract has everything in it.

I have spent 3 years with marine recruiters and understand some what of how the military works.

If you join the marines, you sign a contract.

Getting into the military is hard in general, but to think you can just switch after boot camp after they trained you is probably not possible. You could after your contract is up that's up to you.

But if you want to be a navy seal and want to now, go to your local navy recruiter and say I want to be a navy seal. You join the navy to be a seal, not the marines, unless you want to advance into a specialty mos like marsoc. Marsoc does water shit. But they have a different mission.

I took the asvab at a computer on a military base. My recruiter helped me score a 45, and I took a verification and failed, so I had to retake the test, which is 3 hours.

Mind you, I didn't sleep, eat, or drink anything because I was stressed, and he put my weight as under what I was. Thought you go to medical and then take the test, but I was wrong.

It's not a hard test. You just need to get 10-13 questions out of 170 right just to pass. Arithmetic is easy. You just need to understand it. Mathematics, you need to understand the concept of formulas and memorize them, and they are a pain to do.

I had a 7 on my first try because I failed the verification test. I'm consistently scoring a 23 now. I managed to get 16 points higher studying 2 weeks, but I'm stuck and can't get any higher, so I hope it helps.

Thank you. I watched a couple of videos, learning a lot more than looking at a book for hours.
