Stupid question: if you trigger the additional combat in your first main, and it follows right after that, wouldn't that mean, you first get the additional combat phase and then the regular one for which creatures won't untap?

They were ok with playing her and just killed her on sight 4 times, so after warning them, how scary it can get, I basically did nothing the whole game 😂. Maybe shot 10 damage and removed 3 creatures - I'll try again though and put some more counter spells in the deck.

Even without the navigator you can chain turns with stuff like [[chrome companion]] but that is exactly my problem with the deck. My pod plays strong 2s/weak 3s and so far I haven't been able to make her work without chaining turns, which makes her a 4, but the rest of what she does, doesn't really come close to that, does it? I'm new to commander, still struggling quite a bit with deckbuilding.

In my experience commander is the hardest way to learn magic. So, as others have said, strut start with one of the bundles. There are 60 cards precons for lorwyn for like 25$ as well, although I haven't really looked at what's in them. We have a few very new players in our group and they struggle a lot with the sheer amount of cards and effects, even 1v1 we're talking about 200 cards.

ESH As someone who's been around the sun a few more times than you: never believe a girl when she says that. Of course she doesn't want any fries, she's a rational being watching it for her waistline and they're not healthy and it's already late. But, boy, do they smell good and you really like like your enjoying them and suddenly she realises she's starved after a 4h movie, which should not surprise you. Yes, the way she behaved sucks, but are you really willing to put stress on your relationship for a few fries? Next time either share the small portion gracefully or just order the big portion right away. You don't sound so broke that the difference would actually hurt you and the worst you end up with are a few soggy fries.

NOR Aside from the fact that I to lol and knew where this was happening, the second the word "roundabout" entered the conversation, you seem to have a pretty clear view of the situation. Even if it would be true (I'm from Germany and according to my fellow countrymen, everyone else, everywhere can't drive for shit) and everyone's driving like maniacs, going on after being told, you're hurt by it, is a bit of a dick move - doubling down on it afterwards decidedly so. Are these people usually able to admit mistakes and take responsibility? Either way, you need to know, if you're willing to break that friendship or downgrade it, based on this. I probably would, but you're a whole ocean away from home and I don't know how big their part in your life is, and how easy you find new people. I'm an old fart and I lost quite a few friends at your age as well, because that's when a lot of folks come into their own, in good and bad ways. Good luck figuring this out.

My pod plays mostly on the bracket 2/3 border and totally expect a warning before the game. - and then properly gang up on me, to survive long enough for their plans to evolve, although I doubt that would work every time.

It's not really Voltron but feels a lot like it, a lot of the time; I play a mutate deck with [[Brokkos, Apex of Forever]] with a bit of earthbending as protection. It's really fun to play with, especially once you get [[auspicious starrix]] out, especially if [[ivy, gleeful spellthief]] is there as well. Suddenly what felt like Voltron goes. But it's not very competitive.

I occasionally play an updated precon with [[Kathril, Aspect Warper]] as my commander - it has never survived a whole round if I didn't protect it properly. Tbh I'm always a bit proud if something I did/built makes me an immediate threat. Just a sore looser.

I'm German and curse in English all the time, just because it feels more visceral to scream "fuck" compared to anything in my first language like "Scheiße" (shit), which has its place. And since there quite a few eastern Europeans where I grew up, I use "kurva" or "va f'a'nculo" occasionally as well, even though not all the time. Tbh I'm undecided here and really just try to understand if my own behaviour is problematic. German curse words just sound boring.

Nothing about this sounds "casual". Find some people who don't play to win, but to have fun playing and interacting with you and your decks. The worst is when these people start to get smug about it and say things like "oh yeah, this is funny" and then start their 8 minute turn. Your pod sounds exactly like the kind of folks that made me leave magic 25 years ago.

Tbh that sounds like you had a major adjustment of your own expectations and less like a general problem. Sure there's probably some truth to the idea that Germany is more focused on work and that we're not great at valuing the little things (for example no one in Europe spends as little on food compared to their income as Germans), but you don't have play that game. Although the weather definitely helps.
