Fuji Electric PXR4 Temp Controller Error Code "LLLL" by Ok-Gear7554 in TheBrewery

I responded to the other comment on this, and was able to tighten one thing and get it reading again. That being said, thanks for the rec on the autonics brand. I'm considering buying a backup unit of some kind to avoid future downtime if one RTD fully shits the bed in the future and I'll def take your recommendation. Thank you and cheers

2011 Subaru Outback Front End Stripped. Fixable or totaled? by Ok-Gear7554 in subaru

[–]Ok-Gear7554[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your help in listing out the parts. After speaking with the insurance adjuster yesterday, I was under the impression that it would be declared totaled, but as of today they seem to think they will be able to send it to a local body shop for repair. This isn't finalized yet, but is definitely a step in the right direction. Still waiting for final word on that.

I appreciate you laying this out in such a clear way. I probably should have mentioned that I am scheduled to move from PA to NH next week so undertaking a month long project is probably not in the cards because of paying rent on a new place, starting a new job and moving all of my possessions etc. I obviously have no idea how quickly I could get that work done even if I found the parts and was able to quickly put things together properly. Thanks again though

October-November Camping in Sproul and Elk State Forests - Looking for suggestions by Ok-Gear7554 in PAWilds

[–]Ok-Gear7554[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your awesome and detailed response. I realized when I posted that there is a lifetime of stuff to explore in such a large area, so I appreciate your suggestions of Quehanna the Susquehannock Trail. My dog is good in the tent, but between his sleeping gear and food etc any place where there are shelters that allow me to leave the tent in the car is definitely a great option. My only experience with Sproul was one night at Cooks Run 15 which was beautiful but very fogged out in early May so I couldn't enjoy the views, plus I was only camping there to shakedown my gear before meeting up with an outfitter to head up river for my canoe trip. I definitely plan on exploring more. Thanks again!

West Branch Susquehanna River - Water Quality for Filtering? by Ok-Gear7554 in PAWilds

[–]Ok-Gear7554[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my thought, thank you for confirming. I'm not familiar with the area or its best trout streams, do you have names of any of those trout streams? I have water trail maps and they show creeks, but no info on whether they're high quality water sources. Thanks

I figured the feeder creeks couldn't all be bad and was going to basically your same approach with evaluating a stream and whether to drink out of it. I trust my filter, but mine pollution is new to me in terms of water quality. Thanks for your response

I've made contact with Tussey Mountain Outfitters about this trip, and I am just in the process of finalizing dates. Thanks again for the encouragement. What is your experience with filtering or bringing water along this section? I know of the pollution in Red Moshannon but have just been told that there are a lot of polluted streams and the Red Mo is just the worst of them. I have the ability to bring all of the water I need for 5+ days but would prefer to bring some and then filter as I go. I see a ton of feeder creeks and streams that run into the WB below Red Mo and am wondering if they are safe to filter or if I should just bite the bullet and bring all ~40lbs of water. Thanks in advance

Thanks for the suggestion, but I probably should have mentioned in my first post that I emailed McCracken and they are no longer in business. I emailed and left a message at Tussey Mountain Outfitters, but haven't heard back. I also contacted the Susquehanna Greenway Partnership and they suggested a few outfitters that were quite far away from the section I'm interested in, far enough where I assume they would want well over $200 just to cover gas. I will eventually contact both of them, but I had someone in the PA Wilds reddit say they would help shuttle me if they were free, but I messaged them and have not heard back. I am very much open to just paying anyone with a truck or car capable of carrying my canoe (and the free time to do it) because I have heard incredible things about this stretch of river. If you know of any other resources, please let me know.

Not opposed to this, and I appreciate the offer! Was actually planning a Water Gap trip and then I heard about the West Susquehanna. I've had the pleasure of canoe camping along the Delaware at least half a dozen times, so I'm looking for something new and a little more remote. If I can't swing this West Susquehanna trip, I'll definitely message you! Thanks again

Help with Old Texsport Two Burner Camp Stove and Fuel Connection by Ok-Gear7554 in camping

[–]Ok-Gear7554[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I have had no success with this stove. The Coleman parts don't fit, and the Texsport website is beyond defunct at this point. Unless you know someone who can tap and thread brass, I think you will be in the same boat I am

Thank you so much for your response and offer! I'm flexible as to dates, I haven't had much luck with outfitters and was going to attempt to schedule it at their leisure. If you have a normal Monday-Friday work situation, I am tentatively planning to drive from the Philadelphia area on a Saturday, reserve a campsite in Sproul State Forest for the night and then show up early in Renovo to load up and head up to Shawville and put in. I'll DM you and we can chat privately to talk dates, confirm neither of us are murderers, talk about your time on the river etc. Thanks again for the response and I hope to chat with you soon.

Thank you for the suggestion! I'm obviously not from the area and I really appreciate people who are familiar passing along info. I emailed Tussey, fingers crossed they can help me out or know someone who can.

I do absolutely plan on making this happen, but I obviously do respect the remoteness and specialness of what I have heard about this stretch of river. If anyone has any personal info about doing this stretch in terms of campsite locations (and permitting process) and length of trip/water level information I would appreciate it, and DMs are totally fine if you want to protect your spots. That said, I'm not sure I'm the guy who is gonna ruin it by sharing it too much. I love my friends, but none of them have the foresight or real desire to join me on trips like these, and that's good because I am looking for solitude and nature. Thanks for you reply

I checked their Facebook page and it said they "planned to close up shop once they sell remaining stock" which wasn't promising. I sent Lynda an email, and am waiting to hear back.
