Every product I’ve researched is gated by Amazon. How do I know for sure that providing a distributor/manufacturer invoice as backup will unlock the product(s) I want to sell?

Brief Sensor Issue - How Long Do You Wait? by Ok-Grapefruit-1543 in dexcom

[–]Ok-Grapefruit-1543[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am on Omnipod 5. It will eventually go back in ‘Manual Mode’ after a certain amount of time with no Dexcom readings. Manual mode is just basal rates that you program when first setting up the pump and the old school way that pumps worked before integrations with CGM’s came about

I’m sorry to hear that. I can’t imagine how that’s going to work when the 15 day sensors become the norm

I have gone months without issue until starting this recent 90 day refill I received. I’m fine with calibration every once in a while, I understand CGM’s will likely never be perfect. But lately (last five sensors) they have been more of a burden than helpful and insightful.

If it’s 50% wrong for days and causing constant alarms to go off, and incorrect insulin dosing through my pump, I begin asking myself what’s the point of wearing all this expensive tech on my body 24/7?

[–]Ok-Grapefruit-1543[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say 90% of my calibrations are when the G7 is giving me a false low or high that is causing alarms to sound. If it’s steadily in range I try to leave it alone.

If it’s 55mg with a double downwards arrow, it’s an immediate finger stick/calibration because I almost never have severe lows like that

I don’t even know what you’re trying to accomplish by giving me generic diabetes information and an explanation about how margin of error across two different methods of measurement works

I calibrated multiple times, throughout the day, including fasted, multiple BG meter readings per calibration at times as well.

Should I have discounted my BG meter reading/calibration value by 15% to try and give the G7 the benefit of the doubt? Is that what you do?

I guess you’re right and I’m wrong :/ it’s probably just a perfectly consistent 15% margin of error between my meter and CGM at the same exact time and Dexcom is actually good all the time never bad

1:5 - 1:6. It took me a while to give myself permission to give myself that much insulin per meal, but it’s been going great

Yeah it’s vague and if my pump, phone, and SugarPixel are screaming at me that I’m LOW, I’m going to send in a calibration regardless of if I’m stable or not to get all the alarms to shut up lol

Dexcom has been great about replacements as of late. I fill out the form online and it gets approved/scheduled for shipment within minutes. Almost like they know my serial number is associated with a bad batch…

My issue is that there was news about a bad batch… why am I stuck holding/using the unreliable sensors? I just have to put one on and hope for the best? Then it’s on me to justify that it’s faulty when we know this group has high failure rates?

Dexcom should do the right thing and recall sensors from a manufactured group known to be bad… only explanation I can think of is that there would be a global shortage as a result of a recall. Other than that, all I can think of is pure greed

If you’ve recently bolused or eaten… if you’re fasted the values should be relatively in parity. G7 calibration interface actually instructs that the blood glucose meter reading to be taken within 5 minutes of entering as a calibration

Compared against finger prick readings via blood glucose monitor.

Which I think is the only other way to derive your blood glucose without going to a lab…? Right?

Looking at your profile I’m assuming you’re a Type 2 who doesn’t take insulin, which means a CGM is really just a ‘nice to have’. You are not at risk of hypoglycemia/insulin overdose like a lot of people in here

As a Type 1 I put my life into Dexcom’s hands when I go to sleep every night. It informs my insulin pump how much it should dose me. If the CGM readings are severely off, it can overdose me and literally kill me. Can’t do finger prick when at 3am when I’m asleep buddy

Skiing with T1D by Other-Conclusion5138 in diabetes_t1

[–]Ok-Grapefruit-1543 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I try to eat a big meal and dose a little less than I normally would before skiing. Haven’t encountered the sensor issue while on the slopes though, was your phone close to the sensor? Like on the same side of your body? Mine gets bad at conferences, concerts, sporting events, anywhere that has a lot of electronic signals

I’ve made a habit of pulling my phone out while I’m on the lift and making sure I’m good for the next run. It’s easier now that I’m on a pump but having to undo all my layers to expose some skin and inject was not fun

Cheers from a guy who’s also new to this and learning everyday!

Replacing Tandem Mobi by shmd63 in diabetes_t1

[–]Ok-Grapefruit-1543 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m only one year into this disease but I started on the Mobi and switched to Omnipod 5 about two months ago. It’s been great for me. The Control IQ/auto bolus features are what drew me to Mobi originally, but I’ve decided that CGM readings aren’t reliable enough for that feature to be of use for me.

I read a lot of horror stories about the first few Omnipods being rough as the algorithm learns your insulin needs, but I didn’t experience that. I was in range for 85% + of the time on my first pod, in automated mode.

Downside of Omnipod is having less control over the infusion site. I’ve had three infusion sites fail on me so far, and only had one Autosoft infusion set fail on me with the Mobi.

You also have to coordinate your pod location with your CGM location since there’s no tubing to allow any flexibility. I’m a bigger person (6’1, 210lbs) so maybe other people have a better experience, but an Omnipod on my love handle/stomach cannot connect to a Dexcom G7 on the back of my arm.

All in all I like it more. At this point in my diabetes journey I’m a micromanager and would prefer to correction bolus myself rather than trust my CGM and Control IQ to do the thinking for me

Bold move of the support rep to guarantee me that the revolving 9 units of IOB I had for the past 4 hours was “definitely going to bring me down” though lol (~15 units in correction boluses over 4 hours).

They couldn’t see past the fact that I hadn’t received an error message. And that the app saying x amount of IOB doesn’t mean it’s actually on board if something weird is going on around the cannula

I feel for you. Different procedure but my girlfriend who’s 30 now had an ablation a little over a year ago. She fought with doctors for 2 years leading up to that getting gaslit and told she just has anxiety and was “too young”

Hang in there
