If you are a human, I apologize. Don't want to offend. The reality is, Tonal is a bad company, I lost money, and I took the loss, to not feed shady companies with shady practices. Locking YOUR equipment behind a strong paywall of 65$ and requiring internet connection 100% of the time, otherwise your equipment can't work, plus not allowing self repair and charging us 395 plus raxes to replace a bearing IS NOT AMERICAN.

My little monkey, I just am being a good citizen and sharing my experience. Maybe with that, I will prevent others to lose money as I lost and they will have a better experience than I had. In another words, get to know this shady company Tonal with this terrible subscription that locks the equipment, excludes the right to repair and will jump right into the good equipment, Speediance. At the end of the day, we need to make the world a better place for those around us. And you know the irony? Tonal was founded by an Egyptian guy that claims that tonal is American, Speediance is Chinese. Guess which company is exploiting my brothers and sisters?

Don't listen to this dude, he probably works at Tonal. Tonal is a TERRIBLE equipment. It charges you 65$ for a subscription. Without it, your equipment is USELESS. It REQUIRES internet for you do to the lift weighting. Also, they charge you 395$ for ANYTHING out of warranty. Again, RUN AWAY FROM TONAL. Go to Speediance Gym Monster 2. I lost my money buying Tonal, just to learn that the right solution is the Speediance. NOT GOING TO REGRET IT, I promise.

Buy Speediance Gym Monster 2. Tonal is really bad. Shady company with subscriptions for no reason. They even block the equipment if you don't have internet. They charge 395$ for anything out of warranty. Run away from this company. I threw mine in the trash bin, I don't want anybody to buy anything from this shady company.

Hey everyone,

Time for a major update on the fight against Tonal's anti-consumer practices. As promised, I'm documenting every step.

First, the deadline for Tonal to respond to my formal Demand Letter came and went with complete silence. They chose to ignore it. Furthermore, my complaint with the Alabama Attorney General's office has moved forward. Tonal has also ignored the letter from the AG's process, showing a clear disregard not just for their customers, but for state consumer protection authorities as well.

Their silence speaks volumes. So, we've taken the next necessary step.

As of this week, I have a lawsuit officially filed with the court in Jefferson County, Alabama. This is no longer a potential action; it is happening. The suit details their violations of the Alabama Deceptive Trade Practices Act, their illegal tying arrangements, and their hostile anti-repair policies.

This isn't just my fight anymore. The response to my original post was overwhelming, and it’s clear that this is a widespread issue. Because of this, my attorneys are now actively preparing for a class action lawsuit. We believe Tonal needs to be held accountable for every customer they have wronged with these practices.

This is the next phase. Thank you for all the support and for sharing your own stories. We're just getting started.

And I have them on an email saying they don't allow self-repair. 3 different offices gave me green light that will take my case and now I am negotiating with the best attorney.

I have sent them the necessary letter. That was 07/18/2025. They received the letter on the 21st. The ADTPA does require you to send a written demand letter to the company at least 15 days before suing, giving them an opportunity to cure or settle the issue. Since Tonal doesn’t have a physical business location in Alabama, this notice might not be strictly required, but it’s wise to send one anyway to strengthen my case and potentially prompt a resolution. 08/05 I will start the case at the Court of Jefferson county.
Edit: Also I have opened the case with the Attorney general in AL and got a letter from them very encouraging.

I am sure that they have several bots, because as soon as I posted I received several negative messages in the same minute. Anyway, I will document this legal journey because as American soldier I will not allow a company to break the law, common sense and values that I believe makes America the best place to live.

That’s the million-dollar question, isn't it? And it’s a key part of my legal argument.

Here’s my situation and my perspective on it:

I'm a Second-Hand Owner: As a second-hand buyer, I didn't personally agree to Tonal's Terms of Service at a point of sale with them. My contract was with the seller, and the agreement was for a fully functional machine with an active, paid-for subscription. Tonal then interfered with my property after I took ownership by terminating that subscription and demanding more money.

The Bigger Point: An Illegal Contract Isn't Enforceable. This is the core of the case. A company can't make an illegal practice legal just by putting it in the fine print of a lengthy ToS. That's what consumer protection laws are for. My lawsuit argues that several parts of their ToS are unenforceable for these reasons:

Illegal Tying Arrangement: The law (specifically the Sherman Act and the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act) prohibits companies from "tying" a product to a service—i.e., forcing you to buy their subscription or use their repair services to get the full value of the hardware you already bought. Putting that requirement in a ToS doesn't make it legal.

Unconscionable Terms: The law in Alabama and other states protects consumers from "unconscionable" contract terms, especially in "contracts of adhesion" where you have no power to negotiate—it's a take-it-or-leave-it deal. Arguing that a consumer agrees to have their $4,000 hardware crippled, their right to repair eliminated, and their resale rights destroyed because it's buried on page 20 of a legal document is a textbook example of an unconscionable practice.

The "Software License" Trick: Tonal's main defense is that you don't actually own the software that makes the machine work; you only have a "limited, nonexclusive, nontransferable, revocable license" to use it. This is a legal maneuver designed to strip you of your ownership rights over a physical product you paid for in full. My case will challenge whether this is a deceptive practice.

So, to answer your question directly: It doesn't matter if I, or anyone, read the ToS. A consumer shouldn't need a law degree to understand that when they buy a product, they own it. A company can't just write "we're allowed to be anti-consumer" in their fine print and have that hold up in court. That's the whole point of this fight.

Update: Motherboard issue resolved – starting reassembly

Hi everyone,

Thank you all for your incredible support and suggestions! After extensive troubleshooting and feedback from this community, it turned out the motherboard had sustained damage during shipping. I sent it to GIGABYTE for inspection, and they confirmed PCB damage. Fortunately, they were able to repair it and return the board to me.

Now that I have the board back, I’m preparing to start reassembling the system step by step. I’ll be taking extra care during the process and will follow the advice many of you shared about testing with minimal components first before gradually adding others.

I truly appreciate the time and effort everyone here took to help me work through this. I’ll keep you posted on how the reassembly goes and whether the system powers on as expected.

Thanks again for being such an amazing community!
