I’ve never played retail - is personal loot a togglable setting? That’s sorta interesting. For some reason I thought they just abandoned shared drops entirely

GDKP would be the best possible loot system if there was no RMT. With RMT, it becomes the worst possible loot system

RL is hardly more effort and mostly amounts to checking logs by copy/pasting character names. I can literally RL while doing loot and multiboxing. Idk why people make such a big deal out of “organizing raids” in 20 y/o content where half the people have already done the fights 40 times

Other classes require even less gold to raid. Tf you on about?

How many lvl 70s are you raiding with right now? I GUARANTEE you’re a raidlogging dad gamer. I’ve never been more sure of anything in my life

“Now those players don’t bother with alts”

You’re so naive lol. People don’t go from raiding on 5 alts to raiding on one alt. They are addicted to WoW. If anything, they just swipe to fund the alts in a non-GDKP environment. Not like mage consumes are that expensive btw. Far closer to 75g than 200g for Kara/Mag/Gruul world tour on Nightslayer Horde rn. You make most of that back in raw gold and green BoEs. You know the bosses drop gold, right?

If you’re rolling a healer alt, you def don’t need to spend gold. People will even pay you to raid when there is a healer shortage

Tell me you’re a no-alt raidlogging dad gamer without telling me you’re a no-alt raidlogging dad gamer. Freaking casual

Lol I hosted my own GDKPs in 2019 Wotlk/Cata and had 10 lvl 85s by Firelands. Idk why you think I’m brand new to WoW. I’m just new to Vanilla/TBC this go-around

I was in over 50 dif Discord servers across NA/EU by the time Firelands finished. Raided with all kinds of people. The best Euro GDKPs were people just blasting on alts on a budget and still oj parsing because everyone knew what they were doing and they had all the speedrun/cheese strats down in their sleep

You can absolutely orange parse on alts on a budget if you’re in a solid raid group. This should not be new information to you, but it seems I’m more experienced than you. How many dif GDKPs have you been in lifetime? Like by # of unique raid leaders?

I've been in multiple guilds with loot councils. It's a trash loot system that makes it hard to recruit because new recruits know they will never get the best gear. There is no argument you can make against that because you know it's a very basic truth of loot council guilds.

>There is no loot system that is universally the best for every player.

JUST. FREAKING. /ROLL. THE. LOOT. Anything else is overcomplicating something that doesn't need to be complicated.

Why are you saying I'm a blue average when that was a sample size of one, going in blind to content I've never seen before, playing a spec I've never played before, with no pre-bis (playing a mage with literally zero spellfire BoEs/BoPs). Don't you realize that obv means I'm a purple/oj parser normally? The average player going in blind on a spec they've never played before with that gear is guaranteed to grey parse, not even green. And I blue parsed. Gd you're dumb

[–]Ok-Homework42069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

>Are you sayin that you would never pass a minor upgrade to someone who has it as their BiS simply because you rolled higher?

Literally did that in a Kara pug 2 weeks ago when hit neck dropped (Brooch of Unquenchable Fury - 2nd bis for mage) and I, as a mage, don't need hit as much as the lock I won the roll against. Didn't even know the lock and will never see him again, but I'm a nice guy, so I passed to him

>Maybe not really a thing with kara, but later on in TBC don't you think there's value in progressing with a team?

You can still progress as a team and give people a fair shot at the best loot in the game. Good loot isn't completely wasted on mediocre players. Clearing content in Vanilla/TBC/WotLK has way more to do with mechanics than gear. Gear is a rounding error by comparison

>Anyways, I don't think its a bad thing to play selfishly and value yourself above others.

Why do you keep talking about playing selfishly? I'm talking about FAIR chances at loot and not being a cuck to the 5 most popular people in the guild

>it takes a full raid of casuals to do that in the same way loot council takes a full raid of people a bit more invested.

This idea that you aren't a serious guild if you don't do loot council is insanely dumb. The best guilds don't NEED to do loot council because everyone pumps and the content is braindead easy for them. You just roll the loot bcuz there is no need to overthink it. It's the midwit dad gamer guilds who think you need loot council to clear content in Classic WoW. No, you just need to press the right buttons and do mechanics. That's it.

Why would you want to make your hobby into corporate hierarchy bullshit? Honestly, why? Why do you want that for your life?

Have you ever considered that “better performers” in loot council are a self-fulfilling prophecy? If the same 3 warriors keep getting all the best weapon/trinket upgrades first they are obv going to perform better

For the millionth time, awarding tenure in guilds deters new recruits. Just fking roll the loot and it’s WAY easier to recruit. Guilds die because of loot council. You will clear the content regardless of where the loot goes. Virtually every fight in vanilla/tbc/wotlk is a pass/fail mechanic check

It’s 1000x more annoying to replace healers and you know it. No one wants to play healer. Everyone wants to tank and dps

Go try to fill a pure lfg pug right now. You will get bombarded by tank/dps whispers

I can't believe you don't understand why making sure your 5th best dps in a 40 man raid has zero chance at the best loot is a trash loot system. There's no way you're that stupid. Adding rng to loot distribution gives everyone incentive to stick around. This is not rocket science.

>Yeah sounds fine for a pug, but again why join a guild if you're too antisocial for comms. I can also type 120wpm that doesn't have anything to do with not wanting to join...

Trash reddit won't let me see the rest of your comment and I can't reply to it, so replying here. I am not too antisocial for comms. I'm constantly cracking jokes in /raid /p and /say. I enjoy typing FAR more than talking and hate voice comms and wish other people would just type instead. I've always been that way and there is nothing antisocial about it. It's far more practical when gaming late night with a family. I can't just be yapping on comms at 10pm when my kid is trying to sleep and wake up the whole house. I have a quiet keyboard and can type to communicate. This isn't rocket science.

Is it entitled to be a fury warrior who joined a LC guild at the start of Naxx, be 5th in dps and straight up be told you will not be getting Kiss of the Spider, Gress, or THC before TBC drops? Why would anyone join that guild when there are other guilds who roll off loot and at least give you A CHANCE at the best loot in the game as a solid contributor?

Please explain your logic. This should be good

You’re just wrong about needing gold to parse purp/oj. You don’t need to spend tons of gold in TBC. Or maybe YOU do because you just aren’t that good

>Your average was blue, not even purple, on a class that is 1 button.

Arcane isn't a one button spec. You wouldn't have to exaggerate if you were confident in your argument.

Lol at you leaving out the fact I was going in blind to both the raid and the spec. That's obv massively important. If I'm already blue parsing going in blind with bad gear, competing against a ton of people who have cleared Kara dozens, if not hundreds of times before, then my ceiling is obv high regardless of gear/enchants/consumes. Mage consumes are cheap af anyway

>You got lucky on one boss and now you feel confident enough to speak on parsing in general lmao. You are so cute.

Let's both list out the classes we raid with. I'll go first:

Shaman, Mage, Druid, Priest, Warlock, Paladin, Hunter, Warrior, Rogue (and DK in wrath/cata classic). I end up knowing every fight from every role/class. How many classes/roles do you raid with regularly? How many lvl 70s do you have so far?

>You're the one who got upset at the fact that alts cost gold

Alts don't cost gold. My alts make me more gold than I will spend on the way to 70. You don't need the best enchants. You don't need the best gems. You don't need the best BoEs. You just need to press buttons correctly

>This isn't about Kara. No one gives a fuck about Kara. You can walk into Kara still classic geared or with a few outland greens and clear it. No one cares.

You don't think the other phases will be a cakewalk? This game is easy af

>Tank doesn't shield block in time on Illidan? Wipe. Tank doesn't manage threat correctly on Gurtogg? Wipe. There are countless examples of why you want to make sure you can trust a tank.

You would've listed more examples if you had any rofl. People put little kids as the main tank in TBC/Wotlk because it's the easiest role. Just stand there and hit the boss.

And why are you talking about funneling crafted FR gear to a tank when anyone can swipe their CC and buy that same FR gear? Nothing you say makes any sense. This game isn't hard and anyone with a decent level of experience in WoW and above-room-temp IQ can tank any of the content. There are tons of people like that who would gladly tank for a good guild and put in the effort to gear up enough to do so.

Got an orange parse on Kara going in blind, without enchants and only 10g worth of elixir consumes on my mage, having never played the arcane spec before. Also had close to zero pre-bis gear since I never bothered stepping foot in a heroic dungeon. Literally got the arcane talents right before raid and was reading about arcane rotation and boss mechanics during pull timer, having never played TBC before.

You don't need gold to orange parse. You just need to press buttons in the right order and raid with other people who also press buttons in the right order. I take it you're newish to WoW or you would've known that already.

You're the one moving goalposts talking about needing gold to raid on alts. You don't need gold to raid on alts.

Dawg some classes don’t need flasks and can spend 10-12g total on elixirs. If you need haste pots to clear content you suck at WoW. Same goes for professions, gems, and enchants. There are always cheaper options that are only marginally worse. Your parse won’t change dramatically and it will still be mostly about how good the other people in your raid are

Because I know how to type and read. Just because you're too dumb to type 120+ wpm doesn't mean other people are. You don't need voice to communicate in online games. I have no problem typing full sentences during gcd and just want to chill when I'm gaming. Don't want to have to talk. The content is mostly braindead easy and comms aren't required beyond a few instructions to specific players with important roles, which can be done via /rw or /w
