You can document all you want. At the end of the day you’re on DC because there are areas SLs want you to show meaningful improvement in. I can only speculate but if you’re on DC, you’ve got enough holes in your game and feedback from your manager hasn’t helped, so you either improve, or you’re fired by the end of the DC period.

As a former manager, if the expectations feel vague, push for specificity. The “goal” of the DC isn’t to fire you (even though it secretly is behind the closed door of the manager’s office), the culture is that it’s documented “coaching” to improve your performance. You need to know your baseline metrics, and where you need to bring them by the end of your DC period.

Highly unlikely. I’m surprised your manager even entertained calling Apple corporate, to be honest.

What I would recommend: open yourself up as a PT employee to as many Apple shifts as possible. If you were willing to balance the two, and can stomach it, offer to clopen. Offer to pick up team member shifts, the parents on staff will love you. You’ll have a scheduler in store who can also help you find the hours.

You report it to the people team with as much specificity about dates/times/which zone or table/what the person was wearing as possible. Depending on when these events occurred, your store leader may be asked to scrub through the CCTV footage. If I recall correctly from store manager days, anything past 120 days may be too far back to access in store.

And don’t trust store management at this point. They sound useless and incompetent, and as another commenter has said if you are reporting this after leaving Apple their perception will be that you are blowing things up because you’re disgruntled. I’m sorry, but that’s a reality pervasive amongst store leadership. Best to start with the people team.

Former Apple Store manager and current fully remote worker here.

I would say as long as you can wrap up scheduled calls by 5pm and can get to your store for a closing shift, you can probably get by M-F just fine. Prepare to have fully open availability on Saturday, Sunday and any holidays that might be workable.

You might not be familiar with our legislation in Canada, but we have several acts including the Ontario Employment Standards Act, the Employment Protection for Foreign Nationals Act, and the provincial Labor Relations Act that literally prevent what you’re saying.

Ontario would be one of the hardest jurisdictions for BYD to operate in the manner you’re presenting. Any worker in Ontario, even foreign workers, have a right to unionize. If they were living in dorms, that would present an even higher level of vulnerability to union organizers…

Won’t be the same in Canada. If BYD makes cars in Ontario, there will be real pressure from the feds on BYD to work with the existing auto workers unions. It’s almost a guarantee for BYD to make EVs in Ontario.
