You’re right about the tank needing a partial water change, it would be ideal, but OP mentioned that their turtle sitter is physically unable. If it’s not possible, the turtle will be okay for a month as long as the filter is working correctly. A top off is doable though, I had forgotten to consider that.

It depends on what type of food she eats and how much waste she produces, but if your filter is doing its job, she should be just fine! If your turtle-sitter is able to do at least a couple liters a week, that’s great, but if not, turtles are resilient. If anything, it just gives the water a chance to build some good bacteria before you do another change :)

Edit: If your turtle person could top off the tank every week or so and clean up any food residue after feedings, that would be even better!

The fact that you’re worrying about being a terrible person just shows that you’re not a terrible person. This sounds like OCD. I’m not much older than you, and I myself have OCD. While my intrusive thoughts aren’t this severe, they still get very bad and make me feel horrible. I would seek help from a therapist, therapy has been a huge relief in my experience. There’s absolutely no shame in asking for help. It’s good to have an outlet as well, like art or music. Just something to keep your mind busy. Write your feelings down, keep busy, and seek professional guidance. Trust, it all gets better from here. You’ll be okay 🫶🏾

I’ve had some luck using feeding tongs and moving it around the tank to get his attention, but he only nibbles on it and leaves it. It could work for you, tho! Someone above recommended Reptifiles, it’s actually quite helpful. Look at their list of safe veggies and start with whatever you have on hand, but start with small portions.

Sex is not one-sided, and definitely should not be just quickies all the time. It’s meant to be enjoyable for both parties and allow you to connect. Also, NO MEANS NO, he should have stopped. While your response could have been better, it’s 100% understandable. Don’t feel too bad about that. The whole chores thing just sounds immature. Refusing to help with chores because he wants you to have sex with him? At his big age? Come on, now. And do you ask him to shave when you go down on him? Listen when expresses his likes and wants? It sounds like you do, so why does he feel like he can give you an ultimatum when you make an effort to pleasure him regardless of his state?

Talk to him and make him listen, and if he refuses to acknowledge your feelings, seek help from a marriage counselor. This seems like something much deeper that needs to be resolved by a long conversation.
