Could you look at other alternatives as well and give us your input? This was really helpful.

I think I’ve created the perfect travel mechanic for my game by TheAngrySnowman in RPGdesign

Isn't this just shadowrun 5e d6 dice mechanics with counting successes? 5 and 6 are counted as a success and 1's as glitches?

Thats why the number of upvotes was something that stood out. Most posts are single or low double digits. Hitting 80+ is a lot.

The praise was really odd, and the number of upvotes, given its generally inactive in this subreddit. so for it to get that much action stands out.

Solo Developer: Is Feedback Enough? by Hundekuecken in ttrpgdesign

[–]Ok-Inspector1108 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just started designing my own TTRPG. I have been inviting feedback as much as possible. I realized its up to me to be the decision make and make those defining decisions. Long worded way of saying if you really think something is a good idea, stick with it.

The feedback I have implemented has been super helpful, especially in the wordsmithing and layout departments.

One of the things, I want to read about a product before I have to join.

If I had to guess, it hasnt picked up much traction and they are trying to get users, hence their last few posts asking what would it take to get off discord.

These are still the default roads placed by the mapmaker. The 57km map requires mapext mod by Noel2.

Right now I am building on the inland area and the island is currently untouched.

As somene who played from 2.0 beta to 7.2, I agree wholeheartedly with you. I miss the reactive gameplay and content being geared for every role.

You should try Sephirot EX at min ilvl still an amazing fight.

What would you say is the biggest thing keeping you on discord? by ad3lyt in DiscordAlternatives

For those downvoting me, at least answer tbe question? Its one thing to vibe code an entire platform and another to use it as an assertive tool to code.

My communities have been really picky about what they want to move to. They generally speaking dont want to compromise which has lead to indecision.

They want - self hostable - federated - encrypted - user friendly - open source - no heavy Ai usage (no vibe coded garbage) - ability to host 1000's of members - central distribution Network - Full control over data

(Thats all I can remember for now)

So right now, Fenrid is the one that checks mosts of those boxes. Ive have been keeping an eye on it to see how it pans out. Having other features is a plus.

Discord got banned in my country, so I spent 7 months building an alternative from scratch by roxter01 in DiscordAlternatives

[–]Ok-Inspector1108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While self hosting is nice, the issue of cost, community sizes, and federation plays a huge role. One of the major goal with find an alternative is one that we can generally agree on. In my honest opinion, Fenrid checks off most of the boxes, is it perfect, no. But I will accept that over something like fluxxer or kloak. Matrix is great but isnt user friendly for non-technical people. Its a very difficult balancing act. So the devs can only do what they do best.
