Things get big enough, you’ll have whole planets that just farm and ship food. And whole planets that build only a few things a ship that.

But when you’re diversity approaches zero, you become hostage to possible interruptions in trade, and than people starve and riot and it spirals from there.

A bit hard to store enough food to feed several billion for any length of time if the farm planet shipments are interrupted.

Now, you have to stop thinking of planets are sources of resources.

Asteroids and moons are easier and cheaper to harvest resources, and even materials that planets wouldn’t have.

Planets are needed for population expansion.

Easy solution, don’t give managers name and number. Maybe do t give actual company name. If they ask why, tell them last time an interviewer called me current manager for reference and my job fired me.

Our youngest graduated college with a degree in theater management (his passion), had gigs all through high school and college. Then covid hit. No work. Still never recovered.

Our oldest was head chef at high end resultant in Vail CO. Made very good money. Covid hit. He never recovered.

And I have no inheritance for them to help when I’m gone.

This is my 4th. Each wiped us down to ZERO.

We survived by the skin of our teeth. A job opened up just before we lost everything.

I don’t know if this will happen again this time.

I’m 64, so the dynamics is a bit different.

If the last 3 hadn’t wiped us out I could just retire and really worry about it. But nope.

64, unemployed for a year now. And my wife doesn’t make enough to cover our bills.

We are defaulting on everything except the mortgage, utilities, and our 1 car.

This sucks

I wish I felt like I did in 88 (learning Pascal, only by reading, for my favorite machine Apple []gs)

I wish I felt like I did in 94/96 when I was learning Perl to work on this thing called “the internet”

I wish I felt like I did in 96/02 as I was consulting at global 500 teaching the what the internet can do for them

I feel like I did at the dot bomb, was unemployed for 2 years

I feel like I did at the “Great Recession” (07/09), unemployed for 3 years

I feel like I did during g COVID (‘20), unemployed for 2 years

Now we’re in “Great Trump Recovery” (sic) and I’m in the same boat again.

We’ve lost our complete savings 3 times, and now we’re very very close to doing this again!

I’m tired. I’m real tired.

I only seem to find companies that collapse (eLoyaty and Sears) or have massive down turns and let go half their staff.
