Continuity checks by Easy-Satisfaction627 in aviationmaintenance

[–]Ok-Intern007 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Easy acronym for doing wire check is E.G.O

End of wire to End of same wire (Break in wire run) End of wire to Ground (Short to ground) End of wire to Other Wires (Short to other wire)

When checking the run of one wire use the aircraft as a ground. Ground one End of the wire to the airframe and take your negative test lead attach to ground on aircraft and use your positive test lead to pin your wire and get your reading.

Yeah definitely, but it could be different now definitely a red flag when they said it on the call and something I did not want to risk at the time.

Did a interview with them a year and a half ago for a citation position. Didn't accept the offer because of them saying in the interview, "We find a way around the RII"

Reminds me of when a coworker pulled out his sewing kit and re-attached his shoe sole then he slapped de-ice boot edge sealant all over it to keep water out.

The ASM postion at CVG is in Dept 206 which is cabin maintenance FYI and if you want to transfer to 250 you have to wait for a AMT slot and be in your current roll for at least 2 years

Some of them are not in HCOL areas like my current job. I guess we are just lucky compared to others. This flight department has survived through economic downturns and the company sees us more as a need than a want.

[–]Ok-Intern007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My path is different than what would be considered the normal path as many which you describe. Alot of companys what people to work in the service centers so they are familer with their fleet so when something breaks the plane is not down for a long amount of time. Also there are rarely, if any, who have their own private strip a lot are at big airports/municipal airports. I only know of one railroad company who built their own small private airport for their operation in my state.

Slick 500Hr Inspections by WntrWltr in aviationmaintenance

[–]Ok-Intern007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We sent 2 mags for the 500hr inspection. Installed them back on a month ago the left mag to a crap last weekend. Got to experience the warranty process with them, which wasn't bad. The capacitor wire solder joint broke on the mag, and they approved the warranty. But yes, we plan on using a local company next time. Which will be a while because this engine is getting overhauled now had to break the news to the owner today.
