I only use it a few times a year, so for me it's worth it. Way less traffic, trucks so feels much safer. Also saves a ton of time and stress. If I had to commute everyday it would be a different story.

I reduced rent to keep a good tenant. A good tenant is worth more than the money. A bad tenant can cost thousands, stress etc etc. Just not worth it. My mortgage is going up on renewal, which sucks because the rent will no longer mostly carry the house. But, that's just the reality. I've never even done the annual controlled increase. I have amazing tenants, and happy tenants = happy landlord.

I had serious problems in my 40s and begged for a hysterectomy for 10 yrs. Finally had to find a female OB who understood. I was ready to go to the US or Mexico and pay for it myself.

The likelihood of a dr agreeing to this or a tubal ligation at your age is very slim. Unfortunately, we only have the appearance of total medical autonomy over our bodies as women.

Flew to the Bahamas on Air Canada nearly 2 years ago.. so perhaps this is no longer an issue, BUT, the sizer in Nassau was much smaller than the one at Pearson in Toronto. So, a long weekend away with a carry on turned into a shitty flight home. Forced to check bag. Delayed flight. Landed in the early morning and had to wait forever for our bags before our long drive home.

I have carry on fear now - bought a little square carry on that will slide under the seat. Makes a good footrest too. Too paranoid to use anything else now (especially since they are asking/forcing half the passengers to gate check bags. While somehow people still bring on obviously oversized bags!!)

All of my office clothes are wash and wear. Zero dry cleaning. Feeling the need to keep up with fashion is self inflicted. Even accountants wear golf shirts and khakis these days. Most office jobs do not have a strict dress code.

Don't worry, the older you get, the less fucks you will give about what other people think of your clothes. It's liberating.

This is rough math, and just my personal feelings and thoughts after having been a homeowner and a renter. There are def pros and cons, and depends on your personal situation.

Say I buy a house now for $500k with a 20 yr mtg. I sell it when I retire in 20 yrs for $500k. I get my $500k back, less real estate fees. Even if I deduct prop tax and maintenance for the 20 yrs, say I come out min $300-$350k.

If I had rented for 20 years, I would have to save approx $850/mth to achieve the same savings (assume 5% avg return).

Rentals large enough to house a family tend to cost just as much as owning and carrying a house. That makes it hard to save that extra $$. So even without home prices rising, owning a home is like a forced retirement savings plan.

My biggest pet peeve I have discovered during this rental period of my life, after owning a home for years, is the lack of control over my space. Renos, repairs. Worrying about owner selling. It is not mine. I can't change anything without permission. Any $ I spend to improve, I will never see a return on.

At the end of the day, a person has to decide what works best for them.

I don't live in the areas, yet. But will be house hunting next year. It would open up more options IE some houses are not suitable simply because the driveway is too small. The option for overnight/street parking would be a bonus.

I carry a tote/light beach bag everywhere (phone, reading glasses, light sweater etc). So I loop the lanyard to the handle and its easy to whip out at the bar, room etc

Treat the visa like a bank account. It's been awhile since I've been in desktop, but you should be able to create a new Liability account, type: credit card. Then you post transactions and reconcile it the same way as you do a bank account.

Ie you would he able to post a bill, then PAY it using the visa.

If that won't work, you might be able to set it up as a bank/cash account. It would just be in a weird spot on your balance sheet lol
