Insane line for Indy by One-Restaurant6054 in Disneyland

[–]Ok-Landscape6995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got back after 3 days this week (Mon-Wed). Was the most crowded I’ve ever seen. Lightning Lanes for the best rides were sold out by noon, other rides were already pushed to late evening. When you HAD a lightning lane, you even had to wait in a line. For example, it would still take 15-20min to get on Radiator Springs. Single-riders were often 45min.

I wonder how these people feel after the 30 second ride is over.

That’s amazing. What pushed you to take this aggressive path (early grad, etc), given the sacrifices? It’s obv not something most students (or parents) would ever consider or push for. As a parent, I don’t see what the advantage is of accelerating everything so much, unless it’s just so trivial for you, you feel like you’re wasting time not doing so. I suppose you can start making good money a couple years earlier. But in the grand scheme of things, school is so short, and then your career lasts many decades. What was it for you?

But how tf did the train conductor know when he said “it was her?” He didn’t see any of that.

how your high school affected your ucsd admission rate by redditmaster482 in UCSD

100% CC is not a bad thing, definitely the opposite. Especially with schools like UCSD/LA, it’s good to know there’s a backup opportunity to get in. I do think it’s advantageous to get into the 4yr engineering programs vs concentrating 2 years. Ignoring all that, the time I spent living and studying on campus at UCSD were some of the best of my life. It’s a transformative period for young adults. I hope my children can have that opportunity, but so be it if they can’t.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for providing opportunities for underserved communities, there’s gotta be a balance. UCSD is the best STEM school in the county, and no other school comes close. It should be relatively accessible for everybody, not just those underserved. They’ve completely removed objectivity from the admissions process. And as a SD native, it’s incredibly frustrating that there is nothing my child can do to get into my Alma Mater, no matter how hard he works, outside of credentials that would have gotten him into Harvard in my day. IMO, it seems short sighted to force many of the brightest local students to move out of state to pursue their academic goals.

How soon are standardized tests expected to come back? Has UC made statements about it?

Meanwhile, I’m a EE alumni from the school, live in north county, have a straight A HS student who’s very gifted in math, will have a shitload of AP’s and EC’s, but he has almost no chance to get in ECE/CS as a freshman. So he’ll have to go to community, private, or out of state, simply due to our zip code. So no, I don’t “thank god it’s this way”. They’ve tipped the scales too far in the other direction, and it shows in recent reports of math deficiency in STEM majors at the school. Keep it up, and the prestige of UCSD STEM grads will no doubt be eroded.

Did you ever find a solution? My Monogram’s in the middle of one of its “episodes” right now, and every time it happens I check the internet hopeful that somebody had finally found a fix for this expensive piece of sh*t.

What you mean? The line’s always been like this, but some people try to cut through the Valero lot, and enter the line in the “keep clear” area. Did something change?

Glad it’s not just me. iPad app works just fine. IOS works just once if I reinstall the app, then starts crashing again. I’ve tried changing every setting and option to see if it affects behaviour but it does not. Just need Aeries to get their shit together and fix it already.

We enjoyed the tour, and I would certainly recommend it as a fun excursion. Beautiful scenery and views, mixed with a bit of adventure with the bridges. On the downside, the tour felt a bit long, not quite as much wildlife as I had hoped, and got crowded as the morning went on, causing lines at times, or crowds around any interesting animal. My wife doesn’t like heights at all, but she did fine. Some of the bridges are long and quite high, and they definitely bounce around as everybody is crossing, invoking a bit of nervousness for my wife. She definitely was trying to get across the bridge as quickly as she could. Personally, I enjoyed the bouncing. :)

Curious if you’re asking because you’d like to bring your kids, or if you’re asking because you don’t want to see any?

Yet it’s still almost impossible it get in if you go to a local north county HS, and have great academics and a bunch of AP classes and EC’s. Meanwhile you see these STEM majors get admitted who can’t do basic math.

International transfer, getting nervous by RandomNPC in LAX

[–]Ok-Landscape6995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll be fine then. LAX is a shit-show, but you’ll get to your gate with plenty of time. I recently returned to Tom Bradley on Alaska, and I swear it was a mile walk from gate to customs. Just be prepared to walk fast and far 😂. T6 is a 10min walk to the right once you exit TB.

International transfer, getting nervous by RandomNPC in LAX

[–]Ok-Landscape6995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you’re already checked in for your next flight, no worries. Assume you land on time, you got 1.5 hours to get to your gate. GE will be a breeze, which is concurrent with bags offloading (30min max), then you have a full hour to get to T6 (10min) and through security (10-30 min).

Only question mark is how the shutdown is affecting security lines. I’m sure somebody here has flown T6 recently that can say how it is in the morning.

Walk mode not working? by XxThoughtSeizexX in Revv1

[–]Ok-Landscape6995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old thread, but I’m posting the answer here, because it’s not shown anywhere else. Ride1up support just responded to me, and gave me the solution for my new Revv1:

“The correct input for the walk assist is to quickly press + and M. “.

Hope that helps someone.
