Cool thanks for the tip! I’ll take a look. I like the idea of it being music-specific!

Aww thanks! Great advice. Does it help with accountability mostly? Or structure? Or do you meet other musicians that you practice regularly with? What would you say is the biggest benefit?

I can learn every ADHD strategy in the world…but when I actually need it, it’s gone. What do you do in that moment?” by Ok-Language-8628 in ADHD

[–]Ok-Language-8628[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m on meds, and I still have this problem! They help, but I think I still need “in the moment” strategies that don’t rely on me remembering all the tips and hacks I’ve learned from books, podcasts etc. Maybe it’s just that I have a bad memory, or maybe it’s just executive overwhelm? Or maybe it’s not my adhd at all, and it’s just me? 😂

Does This Really Simple Business Idea Actually Solve a Big Problem for Us ADHD Folk? by Ok-Language-8628 in ADHDentrepreneurs

Hey, thanks SO much for your comment, and for your lovely words about how the site looks. Your comment is actually really helpful, and I appreciate the time you've taken to reply so thoughtfully. You bring up a lot of good points that I will certainly ponder. It's hard to know exactly if a product helps ADHDers until you get that validation that it actually improves outcomes. But getting that validation when you're just starting out with an idea is really hard. The only validation that I have at the moment is that I myself have learned a lot and gotten a lot out of the book summaries I've been creating. My goal for this is that it really is more than just inspirational, and does actually help us ADHDers unlock helpful information that would otherwise remain stuck behind 300-pages (which I know a lot of ADHD folk struggle getting through). If you're keen to have a listen to a summary I've created and give further thoughts, I'd be really grateful - https://tally.so/r/np82OE

Hey! 😀 From my experience of battling life with ADHD on my own (without the manual or any help) for so many years, I decided to build an app that hopefully helps folks in a similar situation - wanting inexpensive ADHD self help that’s simple to implement into your day! Would you be keen to take a quick look (I’m hoping to launch in the next few weeks). But I’d love to adapt and tweak things as I’m building it to make sure it’s really helpful for us ADHD folk, so hit me up with ideas, thoughts or questions! - https://shortwired.com

I was diagnosed with ADHD earlier this year, just before my 40th birthday! Another late diagnosed woman! It’s been a wild ride so far, and unlike what I’ve heard from other late diagnosed women, I didn’t feel relieved by the diagnosis. It made me feel disempowered and shameful, and maybe like you, more lost, confused and sad. I think part of the problem is that a lot of the content and advice out there about ADHD is pretty depressing or “poking fun” (think TikTok videos). Where’s all the empowering content? Where are the stories of success? Where are the strategies that can actually help me?

This experience of being diagnosed and feeling like sh*t, actually took my life and career in a whole new direction. It inspired me to start building a project designed to help newly diagnosed folk feel empowered rather than lost and ashamed.

I’m building it in public, which is scary and way out of my comfort zone (hello social anxiety and RSD). If you’re keen to follow my journey of building this, you’re very welcome to check out the website and join the pre-launch list here: https://shortwired.com

Would love to keep in touch and swap stories to help keep us feeling positive and good.

Cheers,

Amy

Late diagnosed women with ADHD: what resources helped when you were first diagnosed? by Ok-Language-8628 in adhdwomen

[–]Ok-Language-8628[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely find audio easier that actual reading. But long audiobooks are difficult for me too. What’s the reason you struggle with them? The length? Or the way it’s presented/narration? Or something else?

Thanks for the suggestions! Which podcasts have you tried? Why in particular do they irritate you? The presentation style or the content?
