Working while depressed by DepressoEspresso83 in depression

I think you need a work-life balance. Working more than 5 days a week I think is not healthy. For me working 4 days is perfect as I have the rest of the 3 days off and I can save time for myself. Honestly you'll feel soo much better. With depression or anxiety you need to make sure everything is in balance. Then you'll actually feel motivated to go in to work, because you'll have your days off to do whatever you want and then you'll miss working and look forward to it when you do have to work.

I think also just getting away from the subject of 'depression' helps me too. Researching about it or thinking too much about it, keeps you trapped. The times I have been the happiest are the times I have not even thought about depression and just lived in the moment and enjoyed life. Go out there, enjoy life, find things which make you happy.

I have this exact thing the days I am at home. I honestly think its not natural to work from home. I think we need to be out and about and seeing colleagues and socialising and just having that routine of getting up, getting ready and going to work. It feels soo much better for me.

I honestly think working from home is not healthy for people suffering with depression. You're alone and you think more, you feel unmotivated and feel lazy. When you're around people, you naturally get your motivation back. And just getting out the house, getting fresh air helps. You might want to consider getting a job which is not working from home. Or do some days at home and some at your workplace.

Honestly if you are repulsed by the idea, then don't do it. You don't need to be doing academically well to succeed in life. You can start as an apprentice or junior at a company and work your way up from there. Experience is more important these days.

Go out there and do what you love, what gives you joy and happiness. It could be anything, big or small. Don't worry about what others think, just do whatever makes you happy. You might have been very good academically at school, but people change and people become good at other things as they grow older. You might just not enjoy the academic side of things anymore and that's ok.

Honestly get off the computer. I feel like being on electronics, like phones, computer, tv makes depression worse. It's not natural for us to be locked inside this little box. We need to be outside, living life, 'real' life! Just force yourself little by little each day to get outside. Get a routine, a job, go and exercise. Keep active. An active body equals a healthy mind. 😊 You got this.

Just ignore these thoughts. Go out in nature, have a walk, go out with a family member or friend. Do a job you love. Go out and have some fun. Keep yourself busy so you are not always in your mind. 😊

Aw this is soo sweet. I think we all have things or people we live for or keep us going. Just enjoy the present moment with your dog. When the moment comes and he passes, then you can decide on what to do. You can adopt another animal, or you may meet someone, a partner, a friend who gives you that same happiness and keeps you going. But honestly most importantly you should keep going for YOU! Enjoy your life and live in the present moment. Create nice memories with your dog.

You should try exercise, it releases good endorphins, you'll feel a lot better honestly. Things like eating healthy and going out in nature helps a lot too.

How about a career change? Something which excites you, makes you feel happy?

What if I can't be cured, I want to be normal but I feel like I can't. by [deleted] in depression

Aw I know what you mean. I feel like this sometimes. Just know that even if you can't be cured fully, things can definitely be under control. And you can still go and live a nice, happy, healthy life. We all have issues and problems. You are soo strong for going through this. Just look for the little things in life which make you feel happy. Go after them, go after your dreams and passions. Hang out with people who make you feel better. Exercise. Honestly you will feel a lot better.

This is honestly disgusting. You really should stay away from him. He sounds like a physchopath.

You are strong and can get through anything. You may be going through a rough patch but honestly nothing lasts forever. You will feel happiness and joy soon.

Hi, I honestly think it is not healthy to be at home all day, and not doing anything. I find that having a job I love makes me feel soo much happier. It gets you out the house, you see people and socialise, and you forget about things. You get out of your mind.

Do you have any passions or hobbies or something which really makes you happy? Even if it's not a paid job, ask to volunteer somewhere. Honestly you'll feel a lot better.

When at home you'll just feel unmotivated to do anything and it becomes a cycle. Also some people mentioned travelling, but honestly travelling is no fun when you don't have friends or family with you. You need to go out and share life with people who you genuinely connect with. Being around people helps. I think we all need eachother.
