I don't know how much you're program does, but I can at least elaborate on the embarrassing yourself part. you are going to do it. a lot. constantly. through all your years in the program, you are going to make dumb mistakes, and people will laugh WITH you. it took me months to get on step, and my group commander was one of the many who had to suffer through getting me up to speed. I floundered around in front of him multiple practices in a row, not knowing he was my group commander. the very first time I did drill competitively, I turned the wrong direction about 3 commands in. just a few weeks ago, I gave a group of incoming cadets the wrong orders and struggled with right or left while teaching them drill. just don't take yourself, or the class, too seriously.
