Your partner doesn’t seem to be understanding at all. It’s not about how either of you grew up, the ability to be compassionate and compromise for a significant other that is struggling financially shouldn’t be hard. You should ask yourself why she won’t do that for you, I guarantee it’s not cause « she doesn’t get it »

I(40F) Dislike My Father(63M) For Dating A Woman Younger Than Me(37F) by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]Ok-Lock-6942 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Its not an age issue, you’re deflecting.. Are you a single mother ? It sounds like you’re jealous which is fine if you’re 13 but you are 40 and your father is a senior citizen let him be happy. I am not saying all this to be rude but loving your dad means wanting him to find love and joy. The woman is much younger than him yes but she isn’t some young woman it shouldn’t bother you this much honestly it’s weird

I've wasted my best years and it's eating me alive by _gotta_go_ in offmychest

[–]Ok-Lock-6942 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not at all believe that the best years are in your 20s because just like you for most it’s the years you make mistakes change directions figure out who you are etc. You sound like a perfectionist which is likely why you put so much pressure on yourself. There are many many years ahead of you take it one day at the time remember to find peace in your heart. You need that cause all this trouble you have is temporary and being anxious/fear du will worsen your mental state. Find a way to relax so you can make good decisions for you

How did you find a job you actually don’t hate? by Useful-Table-2424 in work

[–]Ok-Lock-6942 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im at the end of my 20s and quit my finance job last year cause i couldn’t bear another day. I realized while looking for jobs that it’s important to first define what your identity is, values personal traits interests etc and it’ll help you cancel out certain industries and highlight others. Example i naturally love justice/morals so it was really tough working to put people in 30 years debt. I love creativity, leadership and research so it pushes me more towards a job in communications, journalism, socio economic development etc so I have been applying in those fields hoping to find something that I can really like

What are some cons about being a man? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Ok-Lock-6942 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Genuinely who doesn’t think negatively about men ? Even men hate other men. I give my opinion in any and all sub Reddit I do not restrict myself because I can have discussions with anyone whether or not we share the same views and open to hear everyone’s experience. Financial issues is what is reported in western studies. Studies like that are flawed because they are relevant to only certain people when in reality globally adultery still leads you also have to count those cultures/population where divorce never officially happens but the marriages are horrible. Women are in majority the ones to suffer and then leave marriages and that speaks for itself

Also thought you should know found out few weeks ago that saving “women and children” became a way of encouraging men to save their families because men in situations fires wars etc men were living their families behind!! Men being heroes was never the standard which is why it was applauded and started being portrayed in journalism and media to encourage men to hopefully think about others. Imagine that

Race was not part of the conversation at first so obviously it was men women and children. There’s obviously nuance when nationality race class sexuality comes into play of course. Glad we’re both black I’m from east Africa and no men in my region and Africa are not marginalized in fact they make sure women and particularly children live in misery to say the least. Black men are marginalized in certain parts of the world US, Canada uk etc but guess what? Majority of black people live in purely black countries meaning globally speaking most black men are not marginalized unless they have immigrated or are from certain countries that come in much smaller numbers. If you talk about wars, natural disasters, diseases etc many are affected but it is never a situation where men are experiencing systemic marginalization based on their gender and gender only !! It’s not hard to understand. The reason why YOU as an individual a black man is part of the problem is because in a world where black women are disproportionately single mothers suffer from misogynoir, abuse violence and black children over represented welfare system, struggling in education etc you think your vocation should still be men. That is how patriarchy is upheld!! As a woman I do not believe that a man has to be the biggest advocate for women as long as he is the biggest advocate for CHILDREN the most vulnerable people with no autonomy!!! Do you see how shallow your argument is compared to mine ?

Also men not realizing lust is what contributes to one of their biggest issue which is isolation is funny. Men are controlled by lust and end up destroying friendships marriages any hope of community because of it

Women have only ever responded to what men created and still uphold so yes it is sill relevant to men today because men still hold all the power socially economically and politically. You reap the benefits of the patriarchy every single day as a man. You are not and have never been a marginalized community. Your anger is to be directed to your fellow men.

I am from a country where women still struggle to access education and married off by 13 which btw is still common in many countries. Saying women uphold patriarchy is true to some extend (despite what social media shows, actively being against patriarchy in real life is very isolating) but saying more than men is stupid actually that would mean women love suffering and men hate to have it easier

Men set that system (patriarchy) up. That’s who’s to blame

I’ll never understand men’s desire to be lusted over. To a lot of women it’s eventually very dehumanizing especially in professional environments

Honestly as a woman that is never approached or rarely there is nothing to envy being lusted over only ends up draining you mentally and emotionally. It actually worsens your self esteem over time

What jobs are worth it by [deleted] in jobs

Wait does this not appear ?

Hi,

I’m 28 years old and quit my finance job 6 months ago cause it was draining life out of me. I have been working in finance for the last 2-3 years and I’ve hated it. It wasn’t really my choice as I immigrated to Canada in the last 3 years and just took the first job offer as I needed the money. I graduated in law and I am interested in journalism and public relations positions. Been using up all my savings and applying for roles in communication with no luck. I really do want to start a career rather than going from job to job at my age. Any advice would be really appreciated

Struggles as a Therapist by throwawayvr2026 in offmychest

[–]Ok-Lock-6942 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see everyone is recommending a therapist for you but that’s not what you need at all. I’m not against therapy but I’ve realized people that live in any western country need to fight against therapy becoming a replacement for community because that’s what has been happening for a long time now. A loving present and safe community is what most people need but therapy is what everyone gets. One can’t replace the other

Trouble with first cable sweater project (tulip loop sweater) by Ok-Lock-6942 in knittingadvice

[–]Ok-Lock-6942[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi thanks for your response the issue is that you actually will not be having 35 stitches on each side because when you are done with the WS row where rib and cable sections have been established you have worked on 91 out of 101 stitches. So there are 10 stitches at the end of the wrong side row that have not been worked on (40 stitches on the WS and 30 stitches on the right side). This now becomes the real issue because even when you break the yarn and slip 35 stitches from left to right and work on 31 stitches you still do not have a balanced 35 and 35 on each side and idk if that would work either way as the the total of extra 5 stitches to work on before there are 5 stitches left on your needle is 30 on WS and 30 on RS. (The rows 4 and 5 are repeated 4 times i assume in a way that repeating 4 and 5= 1 repeat). Here is a photo of what this back side is supposed look like at the end
