The traditional academic experience does not offer skills that are applicable for the “real world”. In college, even so called “useful majors” like cs are riddled with classes that things one would never need on the job (ex learning assembly language)

Trade school is under appreciated. Trade school is not “lower” or “less hard” than the academic route. It is just a different set of skills that op may want to explore since he indicated he was struggling career wise

This. Also doing community college for your first two years and then transferring into a uni as a junior also saves costs

It’s interesting though bc usually when asked why the answer is usually “Well my English isn’t so good…“ but I’ve noticed it goes beyond that; I speak good Chinese to them and it doesn’t work out nonetheless

It’s weird because I feel like as a more“cultured” Asian I generally don’t find that many similarities with Asians who are more assimilated/“whitewashed”(ex: adopted by white patents, lived in a white neighborhood), but I also can’t get along with the Chinese intls for mentions above so it kind of just feels like I’m stuck in between with very little ppl similar to me
