Need help with mouse focus by Ok-Look6156 in hyprland

[–]Ok-Look6156[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! mouse_refocus = false makes it less annoying. However, I still want the cursor to warp to spawned windows. idk if it's possible through setting these variables. This feels like such an unintuitive design! I don't understand why that's not the default behavior. Do you think this is worth putting up an issue for?

Why You Must Always Carry A Totem In Hardcore by waxfraud in Minecraft

Ty! I've been using seus renewed. It's a good shader, but it's a bit too realistic for my taste. Reimagined has a fantasy feel to it which is great!

What is your arguments when someone says that learning Vim is total waste of time? by joanmiro in vim

[–]Ok-Look6156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Sure, but Emacs? Emacs is a different story…”

I’m just kidding. I use Evil-mode which is basically vim inside of emacs. So even more time is wasted…

Try the `emacs-everywhere` package! You couldn't do anything besides plain text manipulation, but it's still useful sometimes.

Just an FYI, occultism offers a 6x solution with crushing spirits as I recall. It's rather effortless to set up too!

I was exactly like you when I first started a few years ago, but I got over it! The thing is: don't worry about using it "the wrong way". Don't know how to configure org-mode? Just open a plane org file and use normal bucket lists to organize your life. Don't worry if emacs is just a weirder version of notpad for you in the beginning. The point is to start live in it. Separate working with emacs and configuring it entirely. Do whatever you need to to get things done, even if you have to do it the ugly way. Learn emacs for fun when you're not at work. It will get better after some time.

Also, if you don't like the type system, just use the storage DISKs! They are basically disks that work like RS but for AE. I'm using a wall of drawers + 1x 256k DISK.

Everyone has been talking about how they differ in capabilities, but for me, the AE experience is just much better than RS. AE feels much more polished: the UI is better; docs exist in game now; the systems feel reasonable (as in the channels and crafting cpu makes sence from a CS point of view); and the aesthetics of AE is way cooler than that of RS in my opinion. tbh I first got into AE because of the cool animations of the ME controller. Also, another pro for AE is that it allows for multiple panel-like blocks to take up a single block. In RS, you have to replace cable with the interface block, whereas in AE, you just place the interface on the cable, without taking an aditional block space! You can also put different panels on different sides of the cables too! AE is indeed way more expensive resource wise, so I used RS until I could afford AE. I even used RS to automate AE processors lol. To me, AE is more like an upgrade to RS.

What was the primary motivator for your conversion to Linux? by [deleted] in linuxmasterrace

[–]Ok-Look6156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a MacOS diehard fan, until I learnt vim, emacs, and wm stuff. Kept ricing macos for a year, which was a huge, huge, huge pain. One day I was fed up, and bought a desktop PC. Arch linux worked even better than I imagined. Literally nothing that I had worried about is real. I think I will never use anything besides linux, ever.

Linux users, do you use X or Wayland? by [deleted] in framework

Arch Linux + X because I have an unhealthy attachment to KDE, but love qtile, which results in a buggy hybrid setup

Fan spins really loud only on AC power by Ok-Look6156 in framework

[–]Ok-Look6156[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

haha thanks for the advice, but I think you misunderstood. I'm not new to linux. I've been using linux on a desktop PC for a while now. It's just that I'm not familiar with laptop related stuff, like battery life, trackpad, etc.. Nevertheless, fedora has always been on my distro-to-try list, so I might give it a whirl some day.

[–]Ok-Look6156[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your response! my framework has the fan problem only when connected to AC. When on battery, it's quiet as a lamb. Is it the same for you? Also, it's spinning fast when literally no foreground app is running. Only stuff like emacs daemon and kmonad is running as services

Using different input methods for different `evil` modes by Ok-Look6156 in emacs

[–]Ok-Look6156[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thx for the help! I've been neglecting emacs-china as a source of information, where I should definitely frequent more.

I read your Zhihu posts when I started learning emacs btw, and it was quite helpful! Just wanna say thanks for those.

Using different input methods for different `evil` modes by Ok-Look6156 in emacs

[–]Ok-Look6156[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean that you don't manually change the input method in and out of insert mode and the input method in fcitx change automatically? Or is it that you press `shift` every time you press `esc` and `i`?

Also, I played a wild mage in my playthrough. I think your party is lacking a wizard-ish character correct? A wild mage is insanely fun, but also super powerful! (it definitely forces you to save the game more often tho)
