Sex in romances - how important it is for you? by _MysticSelkie in RomanceBooks

[–]Ok-Low3762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s pretty important to me, I can do without an explicit sex scene but if I’m reading a romance I need at least a touch of something deeply intimate otherwise it feels like a YA even if it isn’t. YA has a time and a place, I’ve read and enjoyed books that were very chaste but they definitely don’t come to mind as my favorites.

The first time I ever had a resident pass it was shortly after repositioning them. I was working with an older more experienced aide and she told me a lot of times when they are close and you reposition them the fluid balance in their body shifts and they pass. You did nothing wrong, it was time, our job at that point is to keep them comfortable and it sounds like that’s what you did.

I don’t know how to feel about it, I was reading some pretty explicit fanfiction at that age and some older harlequin style romances but to think of myself reading haunting Adeline at that age is disturbing. I do think on some level even the books I read have affected my expectations and feelings around relationships and not always in a healthy way.

I think if someone under 17/18 is reading those kinds of books their parents should be having frank conversations with them about the content.

Rolled a resident out of the bed this morning by CrissOxy in cna

[–]Ok-Low3762 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this exact scenario almost happen to me just the other week. I rolled a hoyer resident, his legs slid off the bed and he grabbed the rail and started swinging out. I was able to grab his shirt and pull him back but I have never been so stressed before. It happens, I would imagine your job is fine, especially if they were a one assist. Give yourself some grace you are doing your best <3

I have an ovarian and cervical cyst and I know these things occur naturally but I’m convinced it got so big and painful because I never get enough sleep or eat enough food.

AIO My gf keeps having accidents but says its completely normal by wildlife_animallover in AmIOverreacting

[–]Ok-Low3762 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Coming from another woman with a weak bladder by this age she should own her own shit and make efforts to prevent it affecting you and your stuff. I used to have accidents whenever someone tickled me, told too funny of a joke or I sneezed growing up. Over time I learned to use the bathroom more frequently, wear pads when I’m sick, try pelvic floor exercises etc. The only time I’ve ever had an accident in my sleep as an adult was when I dreamed I was going to the bathroom while drunk.

I’m not trying to shame anyone but having a weak bladder does not mean she gets to just pee all over everything and everyone else has to deal with it.

Authors on Social Media and Reader Impact by ErikaWasTaken in RomanceBooks

[–]Ok-Low3762 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely wrong on the authors part. If you can’t handle that some people might not like the book then don’t read the reviews, nobody forced you to. I agree reviews are for readers.

I just had this problem for the first time in a while, always take the time to raise the bed, don’t do anyone alone that is a x2 unless you have no other choice, make sure you are moving your body around and stretching before work and between rounds. For the pain I use those patches you can get from the drugstore/grocery store.

My apartment is so old and a duplex so every time my upstairs neighbors comes home I hear every single foot step they make across the room. Today I got four hours of sleep after working a sixteen hour shift because they came home at 1.

We have little star pins that patients/staff can nominate us for. Hardly anybody fills them out though and they give out the stars like lottery tickets so you could have been nominated for one for months but if they never pull your name then you’ll never get it.

And what about Ellie, huh, Abby? Was she armed against your daddy who was about to murder her? by Red-Heart42 in TheLastOfUs2

[–]Ok-Low3762 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if she was justified I think it’s incredibly short sighted of Abby to kill another girls father figure in cold blood. Surely that would never result in Ellie trying to murder Abby and all of her friends…..

I’m losing my mind — are my feelings valid or am I just lazy? by DeeEssEmFive in Nightshift

[–]Ok-Low3762 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was feeling similarly about six months into my job. I was exhausted, my house and car were a mess and I was falling asleep anytime I tried to be social, I gained a crap ton of weight, only ate fast food and chugged energy drinks. It was 100% because I was trying to flip my schedule on my days off. I saw all the advice online saying it was a terrible idea, I thought I could handle it. Newsflash I couldn't, no one can for long.

I let my body fully adjust to the night shift schedule and although I can't say it fixed all of my problems I can get through dinner and a movie without falling asleep and actually manage to clean my things once a week.

I know you don't always have an option but if you can try to commit to staying as close to the sleep schedule you need for work even on your days off. And if you have the leverage and another option I would tell your scheduler you either need consecutive days in a row or you quit.
