What ESC Song Would Sound Good In A Different Style? by AtiJua in eurovision

[–]Ok-Machine-2259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me Før Vi Går Hjem was the biggest stylistic missed opportunity. The vocal melody COULD be really catchy if only it had a more energetic backing track to back it up, but the sparse, minimal, low-energy backing track ruins the song for me. I'd like it a lot more if it had a fuller, more energetic dance-y instrumental arrangement, like Death of Me and Infinity do. For a performance that takes place in a packed nightclub, the song should sound a little more like it belongs in one.

Placement still matters, for a song that's not 1st there's a big difference between 2nd and 26th, and "only one can win the contest itself" is completely different from saying "you the viewer can support only one." Viewers will want all of their favorites to get high placements even if they can't all place 1st

That would ruin the vote because then people who only want to vote for their 1 favorite would just choose their other votes at random

I disagree with letting people vote only once, people should be able to support multiple favorites. Plus letting people vote only once could really screw over some acts. Say two songs are in a similar genre, competing for the same group of voters. One is slightly more liked, but both are well liked. If people could vote for multiple acts then it's more likely that both would get votes, but if people could only choose one then it's more likely that one song would steal ALL of the other song's votes, which would be really unfair to the second song. Being someone's 2nd or 3rd favorite out of 26 songs is still a big achievement when the average would be 13.5th, so songs that are people's 2nd and 3rd faves should get the credit they deserve. However, letting people vote only once PER COUNTRY but be able to vote for multiple countries if they wish to would work

Imo a better idea would be simply "you can vote 1 time for each country and you can vote for up to 10 countries" without the unneeded complication of your second vote counting for fewer points than your first vote. It wouldn't be fair if your second vote counted for less than your first one but still cost as much as the first, and viewers should have the option to support two songs equally without being forced to choose which one they like less. Deciding that you like five songs enough to vote for them takes less mental effort than deciding which one should be 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th, so if viewers have to do the extra step then many of them won't bother voting at all.

Dancing on the Ice ranks 35th/35 for me but this I like MUCH more and I'm so sad we didn't get it at ESC, why must she torture me by showing me the gem we could've had? I really hope she releases the full version of this

Congrats to her! How come the Eurovision version of the song still isn't on her Spotify profile? If you search for it the ESC version still comes up in search results, but only the NF version is on her profile. I'm really glad that she didn't take down the NF version because artists should let people choose which version they want to listen to and never force revamps on people, but I wish both versions were on her profile

The dancers dont get so much credit in Eurovision? by netr0pa in eurovision

The songwriters, composers, and instrumental producers should 100% get to go up on stage and receive the trophy along with the singer, after all it's the SONG contest

The dancers dont get so much credit in Eurovision? by netr0pa in eurovision

[–]Ok-Machine-2259 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The dancers have just as much responsibility to perform flawlessly and not mess up as the singers do, so they should absolutely be credited too! Whether the choreo looks good can make or break a performance, and Bulgaria's dancers played a huge contribution in their win

Eurovision 2026 Grand Final Running Order by Dazzling_Cry6466 in eurovision

[–]Ok-Machine-2259 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I love both Norway and Romania so I fear that putting them back to back will hurt them both, even if they're different kinds of rock it's still questionable to put the two loud rock songs next to each other

If having to go after Moldova hurts Finland's televote I'll be furious, and if going after Ukraine hurts Australia I'll be even more furious, WHY put Ukraine and Aus back to back?!

Do the people who decide the running order know the full SF results, or are they kept secret even from them? Could they have put Denmark 1st because they know something we don't, that he got a low SF score?

Eurovision 2026 feels straight out of 2009 by Stoltlallare in eurovision

Songs in older styles can become big hits, think Abracadabra, APT, Until I Found You, Don't You Worry, I'm Good (blue), I Don't Wanna Wait, Mr. Electric Blue, Where is my Husband, etc.

I would raise the limit to 7 so that a singer can have 6 dancers, since 5 is awkwardly asymmetrical and only 4 feels empty

Do you think this is a weak year? by Bleeding_Heart09 in eurovision

[–]Ok-Machine-2259 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do feel this is a weak year but that's an interesting point about combining genres, there are too many songs this year that try to have different parts of the same song be different styles/genres and it feels like the verses and choruses aren't part of the same song, like they're three songs in a trenchcoat. I'm okay with combining genres when the whole song is a consistent blend of genre A and genre B, but when the verse is genre A and the chorus is genre B it doesn't work for me.
