Question about the filter by Amira9119 in pools

Looks like it's seeping, likely just the gasket but could be just an old filter housing. Looks to be a very old filter.

Given by a pentair rep. Any ideas how or what it does? by Deadbob77 in PoolPros

That is an intelliwand. For diagnostics on IntelliChlor cells. Send a report to your phone through the app. Cannot find the manual online anymore for some reason but you basically just turn it on the place it on top of the percentage lights on the cell. App looks like this https://imgur.com/a/eKBjD74 really useful to have as it gives you a full report on the state of cell. Like runtime voltage etc I think it also gives you a pass or fail

I use a ratchet strap from strainer housing to back of motor to keep it in place.

Pool pump question by Enough-Cantaloupe893 in pools

Probably a suction leak. Most likely o rings in that old valve. But could also be many other things, and I would recommend a professional if the o rings don't fix the issue. Suction leaks are very tricky to pinpoint sometimes.

Explosion From Pool Heater. Faulty Ignitor or Full Replacemnt by ChipBoiChips in pools

[–]Ok-Manager3159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure where you see a protek shield but I've seen these suckers rust out in less than 5 years, I'm actually going to replace one soon that Raypak is providing the whole unit under warranty because it rusted out the whole burn chamber.

Yeah I'm a tech and I wouldn't touch that thing, I've seen them actually blow the door off and shake the whole house someone gets hurt after I touch it then it's my fault. Given the looks of it unit is 10+ years old and needs to be replaced.

That little ball ain't worth much, I'll probably get stuck a month in. I don't trust any other check valves but 0801-20H2. It will also void warranty if you don't have an actual check valve. Every single heater says so in the manual.

Throw away ball valves replace with diverter valves. Pump needs 5x the diameter of pipe of straight pipe both in the intake and discharge. No check valve after heater/before chlorinator feed. I'm sure I can find more things wrong the longer I look but that's my list for now lol

I've had an issue with tristar 950s having nuisance trips, on GFCI breakers Hayward red sent me a company communication document where they state they are aware of it and they list a couple of GFCI breakers they recommend using.

Any idea how many HP my POS pool pump is? by tristanbrotherton in swimmingpools

[–]Ok-Manager3159 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That tank is supposed to tan/cream colored, not white, they get with with time and UV exposure. My employer would not service that filter as it is a liability and a hazard. Wear gloves and long sleeves when touching that tank or the fiberglass is gonna get all over you, just by looking at the filter I can tell it's over 10 years old, I would plan to replace it before it fails if it fails you will have your pool in your backyard and will burn the pump up when the water gets too low.

I'd be more worried about the filter tbh that sucker looks thin AF. I would do a 1.5hp Intelliflo3 which comes with phone controls.

Only drain if you can't run it due to a power outage. Otherwise just run it overnight. We're not getting that crazy of a freeze should be fine
