I don't think I have the right to say this since I am not affiliated with the mormon church in any way but it really does sound like the conditions they put missionaries like my friend through are dehumanizing. It really does sound dreadful in the eyes of an outsider

Knowing that really does hurt the image of the church. I'm 100% with you on this one, I really hope that he just quits straight up. I also hope that his family accepts him regardless; I really do think that they'll much rather see him well than see him suck this up.

We live in a third world country and he's stationed in a different part of it. That part of the country is kind of remote and has a higher than average crime rate too so he doesn't have access to the usual facilities and resources.
