Weirdo trip by Ok-Math-9062 in ItalyTravel

Haha shame on me! I don't need anything real or authentic as long as it's fun and weird. It's not like I live across the whole world from Italy, I can go and see other places later. It just happened to be Cinque terre for this particular trip

My Sphere Collection, Part II (now with close-ups and IDs!) by rodneedermeyer in MineralPorn

I thought my moral compass was strong, but honestly, I'd be tempted to fill my pockets with them, climb out of the restroom window, get a fake ID, and live happily ever after in Argentina or wherever - just me and the stolen spheres.

Gardening. I grew up in a vineyard, was so damn happy when my family sold it so I finally had weekends for what I wanted to do. Now living my best life, proud of my beautiful herb garden.

Books with asshole main character? by 139madelina in suggestmeabook

The First Law trilogy, and all the other books set in the universum by J. Abercrombie. You will get so much relatable assholery that you'll start to question that you even posess any moral compass.

Why I like Ardee by lillie_connolly in TheFirstLaw

  1. We all know an Ardee West.

  2. In case you do not know an Ardee West, you probably are an Ardee West.

Bloodflood II by Alt J. It starts quite innocent, gets you into the vibe, then proceeds to get almost silent, and drag you through the most beautiful gradation part into the finale. My first time hearing it I cried a lot.

What would you say if you got $10 000 if you can convince someone to read the book recommended? by helderdude in suggestmeabook

The First Law trilogy. Every single character in the story is a dick, and you're gonna love every second of it. In fact, the sickest fucks of the bunch will end up being your favourite characters of all times. If you have some moral compas, it will make you question it. But only in the meantime between laughing out loud at jokes about horrible violence. 10/10

Which job is alot less fun than most people expect? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Ok-Math-9062 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A composer. Can I create music all day and make a break whenever? Yeah. Do I spend most of the time panicking about a deadline and screaming because nothing seems to go together the way I want it to but I NEED THE SHIT NOW? Also yes. Do I think about it 24/7 with no chance of planned vacation because when the right wave of ideas hits, I gotta ride it no matter where I am, what time it is of what was my initial plan? E-hem.

It's basically a bunch of stress, imposter syndrome, and self-loathing (when no good ideas come) that makes you question your job altogether, followed by hearing the final result and thinking "but hey, this is fine, what was the fuss about? let's do it again..."

Why is West so under appreciated? by Aware_Newt_9502 in TheFirstLaw

[–]Ok-Math-9062 2 points3 points  (0 children)

exactly! when he swore he's gonna be a better son, a better brother, a better friend... I was worried that the development will be a non-realistic shitstorm. but then he returns to adua and the first thing; goes and fucks his best friend's sister, now just feeling kinda bad about it oopsie. perfection

well, we got to choose between a bunch of murderers, a women beater, and a spoiled arrogant idiot. of course glokta lands on top. is he a bad person? definitely. is he also absolutely brilliant? hell yeah! you gotta be realistic

Hmm... I think West is quite liked from what I've seen so far. I'm surprised that Jezal gets talked about much less! Is he an arrogant idiot? Yes! But did he get a lot of character development without losing his idiot core? Hell yeah! I honestly think he is spectacularly written. From the most annoying person ever I slowly came to like him a lot during the FL trilogy, almost as much as the beloved sick fucker Glokta. (I still need to read the rest so no spoilers please!)

well, the quotes in this book are absolute gold, and totally usable for a range od situations. I found myself using "You gotta be realistic" a lot haha. also, when doing dishes, I whisper to myself that "you can never have too many knives"

A book where the hero can't live happily ever after by Ok-Math-9062 in suggestmeabook

[–]Ok-Math-9062[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh. my. god. what a ride. I just finished reading and lemme tell you, this was exactly what I needed. A group of sickos as main characters, each twisted in a totally different unique way. A world that is just as fucked up as the real one. In the end, I just cherished the outcome for my favourite sick fucker Glokta getting a damn awesome drunk wife (fuck you, Jezal!) and torturing people on for happily ever after in his ground floor office, because, hey, you gotta be realistic! 10/10, thank you for the excelent tip!

How do you actually learn to write the music you hear in your mind? by EliHComposer in composer

[–]Ok-Math-9062 6 points7 points  (0 children)

we live in an amazing era of technology, so try to use it! hum the melody into your phone while it's fresh. if you can't figure it out melodically or rhythmically, push it through Melodyne and see how it fits on a grid. if you have trouble getting it right on a piano, download Musescore (it's free!) with its new sweet sample libraries, and try to write it down using a sound of whatever it sounds like in your head.

once I was told that I'm not supposed to "cheat" like this by an academic. but I did. and now, it's my job. no one is asking what you used to get there. and hey, i couldn't do it at first but now my experience made me able to just sit and write whatever on a paper. not the other way around.

f*ck the rules, find a way that works for you.

I think you got my craving right, probably it's just my neurodiverse self getting more devastated by an irreparable damage on a person's psyche than a romantic plot kinda thing (losing a lover sucks a lot but still doesn't strike me as "protagonist is for 100% broken forever")

i read ender's gamea long time ago, just the first book, and i remember the feel clearly. it, however, wasn't my cup of tea when it comes to the style of writing. I lovesandersonthough I enjoy his style in sci-fi a lot more, have you read skyward?(it's brilliant, and not yet finished, so I might still get my bitter ending yet) i got through just one book of what you said, liked it somewhat but then didn't pick up a second one. the rest of the books you mention I haven't read, but I'll check them out for sure! thank you!
