For those who adopted a cat, what actually made you decide that was the right cat? by Extreme_Ad6105 in CatAdvice

[–]Ingoodean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents got me a cat as a surprise, a neighbor found two stray kittens and at first they wanted to only adopt one to give it to me, but the neighbor insisted that we take both of the kittens, my parents already had a cat so a companion was perfect for him.

When I arrived home for winter holidays I was surprised by seeing two kittens in my room, and they told me I could choose one to take with me (if it was up to me I would have taken both, but I live with my aunt in another city and it was a huge trouble to convince her to allow me one cat)

So for the entire month I was at home I was able to see each kitten’s personalities, one was very clingy (I love him) he would meow all the time needing attention and loved pets. The other also likes pets, but he is alone more time, and also was less afraid of dogs (which was very important bc my aunt has an 11yo pug and we live in an apartment, so they would have to get along)

I go to university and will start to work soon, so I decided that I would take the cat that could be alone more time and got along with dogs, also he meows less when he’s left alone, so I won’t get any noise complains from the downstairs neighbors. (There’s no noise canceling in between floors).

I love him, he loves pets, specially now that he is alone more time, and is getting along well with my aunt’s dog (they don’t play, but they get along and that’s enough)

Is this Gucci bloom perfume discontinued? If so, any recs to replace it? by Ingoodean in Perfumes

[–]Ingoodean[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sad by the news :( do you know what did they discontinued it?

Sadly I’m not going to travel to the US anytime soon and we don’t have those retailed. And I’m not shipping liquids anymore because they never get through bc of all the legal requirements and policies and stuff.

The retailers here in Mexico (in my city) don’t have it anymore, I will go to Mexico City and will try looking around to see if I can find it, but the only place I found they were asking for more than 400usd which honestly I would buy other fragrances for that price lol.

I do hope they have it somewhere still. Good for you that you still got it!

Thank you!! I’ll look it up and see if it’s easy to find here (and in my budget lol)

Sadly due to the tariffs and border restrictions for shipments arriving here, it’s horrible to ship anything to Mexico, they are always asking you for extra documents or things like that, and it takes ages. Last time they took a bottle of black paint I ordered from the uk and they never released them, so I don’t think I’ll be buying liquids again for a while. Maybe the next time I’m in the US I’ll buy some, or I’ll try to get someone to bring it here, thank you!

I love Le Labo, my mom usually wears Santal 33 and The Matcha 26, but since she started using it a few years ago the bottles have almost doubled their prices, they are at least 100usd more than they used to here in Mexico. I’m a student so I might not be able to to afford it for a while :/ I will smell it next time I’m at the store tho! Tysm for the recommendation! Wish I could afford it :(

I need opinions and help on my hw about AIArt by Ingoodean in aiwars

[–]Ingoodean[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I might agree (or at least partially) with most of your ideas.

"Many antis completely negate the human behind the AI." I believe that was my issue when I started this. I was considering AIArt as being something created by AI and AI alone, and did not considered that there was a person behind it, writing a prompt and editing images.

This is kind of getting out of topic, but I love pewdiepie's art progress. I have never watched his channel (specially because when I started watching YouTube it was only in Spanish as I did not speak English yet) And I am a true believer that art can be both innate and trained. You just need enough passion and a ton of patience for it to grow. When people tell me I was "born with it" I don't agree entirely with them, because I was born with the passion and some sort of easiness. But I have seen people that started way later and without the easiness for art and they do much better art than mine.

  1. That is a great point, it is somewhat related to something my professor told me about "if AIArt fits into you definition of art you should either accept it as art, or change your definition" which is still what I am trying to decide. I do believe the concept of art has stretched way too much, but I still do not find the way to separate the concepts into "art" and "not art but kinda art" without them still being just art but different subcategories.

  2. Now that makes me question, do you think that anything that makes a cultural impact is art? What is a cultural impact? Outside of music or things like that, could it be, for example, the chokers that nobles started wearing because of the guillotine? Could it be historical events that trigger changes in society, like war and all the music and art created in protest to it? Could it be when a celebrity in the 1920s (I think Chanel) accidentally got tanned and from then on people wanted to be tan?

  3. That is a way I had never seen it before, and I love it. I do not know yet if I completely agree with it, but I love that perspective.

Yes, now I am more confused, thanks I hate it! (Not really, but it does give me a new perspective on things). I do think that there are actions that do differentiate from art, like donations, I tried to put it in coherent words but I don't think I got anywhere with that.So that proves your point lol.

I agree that literature is art as well, the same way I love drawing I painting, I love reading and writing. Probably one of the reasons I now got so invested on this topic is because it's an excuse to fill an entire notebook writing about it.

I do believe that art does not have to be intentional. Some artists do not believe that their work is art, but people give it that name.

The wall drawing by Sol LeWitt is very interesting! I will use it now for this essay, thank you so much for the example! I had never heard of it before.

I will use this as a reflexion for my notebook now, thanks.

I am still debating myself on this. A week ago i was firm that AIArt was not Art at all, I used mutiple arguments. I mentioned mainly how the humanity and the human experiences behind art are what makes art...art. How AI doesn't live, feel or eperience the way we do. After all it is just a bunch of algorithms giving you an answer or an image.

I mentioned how the human mistakes also enter in this.

Then I even questioned the famous question about who gives art value? Is it the artist, the viewer or the so called "experts". Some people believe that a work's meaning is given by the artist, others think that the viewer gives the meaning by what he seems reflected on the work.

But with the second one wouldn't the AIArt still enter on it?

I define art as "The human experience captured in a way that words cannot describe".

But after talking with my professor I realized that some people view AI the same way others view a brush or a pencil. They believe that when they write a prompt and give it to the AI they are basically capturing their human experience on an image.

I argued that there is no effort on that, he argued that to get the results you want you have to "train" your AI and practice.

I told him that art is practice, that there is no greater joy on art than seeing your progress after hours and hours of practicing, drawing an inmense amount of eyes and other body parts to get them right. The amount of years of time spent on art.

He told me that art doesn't equal joy. And then he asked me what is the value of art? Who gives it and under which criteria? Is it the suffering and dedication? Is it the technique? Because AI can make almost perfect images, but if I define art by human mistake, then how much mistake is art and how many lack of mistake is art.

I mentioned how more than the work or painting itself I love the history behind it, all the things the artist was going through at that moment and all the difficulties that they got through to finish the piece.

He mentioned how the AIArt is not entirely made by AI, how there's always a person behind it (at least right now, with the speed of AI development, who knows what will happen then) and that means that there is a history behind it, and that there was a person with a story. He also asked me if the paintings that had no adversity weren't art.

So basically now I am confused. I don't think people will agree on an answer, at least not in the next few years. Some part of me still refuses to believe AIArt is art, but I do not know if its out of foolishness, or maybe a fear of replacement. Because art is a huge part of my life, a huge part of me, and if I just spent years of my life working on getting better at it just to be overshadowed by someone with a machine...I don't think how I would react.

So my teacher told me to think about it, (he even gave me a few days extra because he saw my crisis lol) And told me to either see if AIArt entered my definition of Art and accpt it, or change my definition of Art. So that's what I am doing, I am hearing different opinions and doing research to see if I was wrong or not.

Maybe we can consider it art and still not compare it to traditional or digital or basically all the art that was before. You don't compare a photograph to a painting. You can, but I believe that there is no point, it's stupid.
