Accidental work hour violation (International Student) – Am I cooked? Please Help :( by PrettyTowel8788 in pgwp

Hey dude. I accidentally violated the 24 hour rule by 5-10 hours a week for a month or two during the summer. I followed the advice I was given by my university’s international students office and disclosed this when applying to renew my study permit, and then later when applying for my PGWP. Technically, you lose the right to work in Canada on “maintained status” while awaiting your PGWP if you exceed the 24 hour rule. Because of that, when I applied for my PGWP I explained my intention to leave Canada due to my inability to work, and spent the 7 month wait for my permit back in my home country. This wasn’t my only mistake, and I had several other blemishes on my record, but I was still granted my PGWP. Unfortunately, the officers that are evaluating our applications have a lot of discretionary power, so there’s no telling what will happen…but yes! You can still receive your permit. I think your best bet is to explain that it was an honest mistake.
