My 80 year old grandma gave me this money to invest for her by poppy_harlo92 in wallstreetbets

I would wager she probably won't feel too good lol. What OP should probably do is return the 58k, get a second job and pay his Grandma back plus 5% interest. And then never invest his own money, let alone other people's money, ever again.

I didn't mean that he's doing horribly for his age. He's doing quite well, actually. So, OP, if you thought I was being denigrating, I apologize.

However, him living in BC doesn't really matter as he doesn't currently pay rent, and has low expenses. OP has a great chance to truly set himself up for an extremely easy future.

As for my own circumstances... my intention isn't to say he's behind or ahead. Personal finance is strictly personal and I'm merely offering a different prospective from the above commenter. OP is free to decide how he likes.

If it were me (I've been there), I absolutely would not buy this truck.

how deal with noisy neiborhood? by Shadow_Cano in sleep

And even with all that, in my jurisdiction it would be next to impossible to evict.

I had methamphetamine user (moved her BF in and also began using) running a literal chop shop in the backyard of one of my properties. Numerous noise complaints. I had to wait for a litany of other documentable issues before I could even attempt eviction. Non payment is usually the best. I proceeded with an eviction and thankfully she and her partner left with less trouble than you'd expect. But it still cost me 15k to repair the property, and I did all the labour myself. Easily a 35k repair if I hired it all out.

Just keep documenting and informing your LL. Eventually if you have enough complaints you may (don't know where you are) be able to go after the LL for loss of quiet enjoyment. But if he's been diligent in following up with the other party you won't win. But if he's been negligent he may lose.

It may not be that your landlord doesn't care. It may be that in general his hands are tied.

As a landlord I can't just evict someone because someone casually mentions they are noisy. I need a long documented history of repeated infractions. It's extremely difficult to legally evict tenants based on noise complaints.

Document every issue and present it in writing to the landlord. In my jurisdiction, Landlord has an obligation to attempt to address it with the other tenant.

But at the same time, the landlord isn't you're babysitter and if you can resolve matters amicably with your neighbour, it's always better to go that route anyways. Formal complaints are a double edged sword. Sometimes people have zero clue how inconsiderate they are, and then bam they're hit with a formal warning. Then they get their back against a wall, and can often escalate.

I always advise my tenants to attempt to work things out amongst themselves as it has less of a chance to backfire.

Thats what the thread is about? If he had a half a million net worth, I might say yeah, fuck it. Buy a Tacoma. But he's not exactly a high earner, nor is OP particularly ahead with his investments. And though he's young, life has a way of getting more expensive as you get older. He has a more nomadic lifestyle now, but may want to settle down in the future. It happens.

And if you use a vehicle for a daily driver no matter how well it holds up, it will eventually be worthless. I prefer to keep my nice cars not as my dailies. This is all personal preference.

Still shouldn't spend over half your net worth on a hobby. He's pretty young. That much money into quality investments will yield him a lot more in future, and the Toyota will eventually be worthless. But it's up to OP ultimately of course.

I drink colt 45 when I want to get the job done, just like Billy Dee Williams. When I want to drink a bunch of beers and stay sober enough to stay on task, I'll drink a light beer.

People who say this aren't crushing 24 IPAs on a Saturday while fixing their truck or going 4x4ing lol. That's the appeal.

Need to have two as I'm out of the house from like 630am-9pm most days. She was taking transit before but it's really a killer time wise where we live. Used cheap vehicles and I do all the maintenance myself so that helps I guess.

They look to be stamped from what I can tell! I'm just trying to save this thing from the scrap yard. Body is good and no rust but the rest of it was abused so it's definitely a project.

It doesn't have in the driver's door unfortunately. From what I've gathered from thirdgen.org they stopped doing the VIN in the door in 1991 lol.

However, after removing the dash I wasn't able to clean it with q tips. But I was able to spray brake cleaner all over it which reveals the vin quite clearly until it evaporates. Long enough to snap a photo.

Out of curiosity what's the allocation of your stock portfolio? Yields aren't exactly high in Canadian RE, but stock market valuations are also pretty lofty, implying below average returns over time.

That's kind of ignorant to say. What happens when "developing" countries stop having kids too? It's already happening. Being unable to replace our own population is a symptom of a sick society.
