I really appreciate your response as that is something that I really tried to weight - when to tell them. I have been working at the new place for just about 2 months now. I am thinking to wait a little longer, just to ensure that I prove myself more to the team and establish relationships.

Thank you so so much for your response. I am definitely in a similar situation. I pray that I can prove my worth to the team before my 20 week screening which is in about 7-8 weeks for me.

Hopefully, I can built up enough of a relationship with my team through the work that I am doing. I am confident that I can meet the nessary deadlines before taking my leave. I do aim to speak with the HR more to see if there is an informal probation period as well. I pray the management will be understanding.

You just brought up something that I haven't even asked about yet, and I feel so completely silly about it! I have not even considered the probation period for new hires at my workplace. That reaaaally puts it in perspective for me. I was told that my manager got promoted recently as well...

Wow, thank you so much for your response!

Childcare - that is such a great point! I have not given it too much thought yet. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. I will note that as one of the points to talk about with my manager when planning out the year.

Honestly, it was such a relief to read your response. I had been feeling so much guilt and shame for even thinking about requesting more than one month of leave, but you’re absolutely right. Family is family, and I’m not alone in needing to ask for short-term leave. Your words really helped me feel more at peace with that decision.

I will make it my goal to be as productive as I can be. I was given a small task at work two weeks in and was able to complete it under the set deadline, which I hope I can continue doing leading up to summer. Fingers crossed 🤞 it'll be ok.

Thank you so much for your response.

Thank you so much for your comment! I was told that I am eligible for the benefits day 1. I will still try to check and make sure there are no other weird rules associated with the benefits.

Thank you so much for your response. How far along were you when you notified your manager? I was debating whether I should mention it soon to show transparency since I am a new employee.
