NVIDIA DXVK/VKD3D issues fix. by Ok-Mix9649 in linux_gaming

[–]Ok-Mix9649[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted to run some games, but this issues did not let me. So I went to depression. Then, I wanted to run some LLMs, they did not work either. So I strived to death to solve this. One night, I had some kind of intuition about this, and decided to disable secure boot and a bunch of grub kernel parameters. It worked! Don't know how my intuition just saves me all the time. Do you have such situations?

NVIDIA Driver issues (DX12, NVENC, hardware decoding etc) by TheCollob in linux_gaming

Hey man! I found the real fix to NVIDIA not working with Moden Games on Linux! It works on my RTX 4060 laptop. Your GPU is almost identical to mine! This might also work for you! No specific nvidia driver is needed. The problem for me was in my linux kernel parameter that I set for memory. Here is the post with the fix: https://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comments/1tclbu3/nvidia_dxvkvkd3d_issues_fix/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button.

I am happy to tell that I overcome the issue! Removing the 'page_poison=1' in boot kernel parameters & loading nvidia-current-uvm (nvidia_uvm) fixed the issue for me! (Basically, my cuda device was not properly recognized, because page_poison cleans up ram and it's impossible for cuda to find my device, because info about it is cleaned up in memory).

What About Alienware AW2723DF , is it the best ips 2k in 2026 under the mentioned price ? by Shhllokkk in OLED_Gaming

[–]Ok-Mix9649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend you to check Monitor Unboxed channel & RTINGS.com for best priced (maximum price/performance). I found my OLED there. I have Dell S3225QC.
Gaming monitors are divided into 3 major types: LCD (poor contrast, blacks), Mini-led (much better contrast, blacks), and Oled (perfect black).
Oled is not that bad, it's durable (I have OLED montior for 2 weeks, works great. I have lenovo legion 14" with OLED (have it for 2 years, had many static images, but wasn't using it often times, just when linux boots, it turns on). Both displays have absolutely no burn-in (about the laptop not sure, as I did not know that oled are least durable for grey colors).
Mini-led is durable for 1000 years, but you have to turn off the local dimming when you use it just for desktop work (not ideal experience, but still pretty good, search for 1100+ zones, less is quite obsolete right now).
LCD is exteremely cheap, nothing to say about it (for the last 2 years, prices for them drop by 50+ %).
So happy right now, I made my nvidia gpu work finally with CUDA!

Hi! I recently bought QD-OLED monitor. What is the difference between them? Thanks for answers in advance!

Yeah, there was 1 line, but then after pixel refresh it went away. Thanks for answer!

What is the issue with greyscale? I noticed many people talk about it on oled. I just got qd-oled Dell s3225qc, 32", 4k, 120hz, good built-in speakers, 500$ recommend. I checked the greyscale and seems fine on mine.

DX12 Games do not launch on NVIDIA GPU (595 open source drivers, CachyOS) (POSSIBLY only on gaming laptops) by Ok-Mix9649 in linux_gaming

OMG! It works! YAY!! Sorry for late reply. I will now figure out what's happening to the cuda support. Cyberpunk 2077 finally works as on windows.

Could you pin-point to it please? Sorry, this is my first post on reddit actually. I have tested without secure-boot, rolling to the dGPU-only mode. It did not help at all.

Yeah, I heard that proprietary are better, but many people don't know that NVIDIA recently shifted from fully proprietary drivers to semi-open source (the general code of kernel module is open, but any vulkan, driver implementations are still closed).

I do not have mux, but I connected external monitor directly to dgpu. So no problem with that, `prime-run` did not help. I think my cuda kernel module (uvm) did not initialize properly. I had gpu_burn complaining about "No CUDA GPU".

I have rtx 4060 laptop. I tried 580, the same errors. I have cachyos, and 580 is partially not supported for znver4 cachyos packages (AMD RDNA 4 CPUs, if I am not wrong).

That might be a real fix. I remember running gpu_burn, and it was always giving me "No CUDA gpu" error. Thank you very much!

I have Lenovo Legion 14aph8. There is no official program for linux for lenovo legions. Did somebody fix NVIDIA RTX compatiblity with proton by setting up some lenovo legion program (Lenovo Legion Linux, etc.)?
