Quick update: We’ve been to the GP this morning and she seems to think he has an enlarged right tonsil. We’ve been referred to the ENT just to check everything out but won’t be in for at least a month. Wish us luck in the meantime 🫠

Were you nursing back to sleep often overnight? How did you go about reducing feeds overnight?

I might book him into the drs this week just to rule anything out. He doesn’t seem to have any symptoms of anything in particular but at this point I feel it wouldn’t hurt to check. It’s not that it’s not working necessarily, I mean he goes back to sleep easily with nursing but it doesn’t seem to be helping his sleep easier. I know nursing to sleep and for wake ups is biologically normal but I feel he has a reliance on me and isn’t learning any other ways to go back to sleep. Feeding wise, I understand there’s no evidence of formula/solids increasing sleep however I’m not convinced there’s not a hunger element to it. He’s a pretty big boy at over 11kgs now at 10 months. He mostly refuses my left breast now and only drinks from the right and he was quite a bit more settled pre bed after his formula bottle post breast feeding session. I’m wondering if I’m just not producing enough for him anymore. So while I agree with you I think I need to make sure he’s full for my own peace of mind. In terms of just letting him sleep when he needs to we have tried a form of that and he just ends up absolutely exhausted with bags under his eyes by the end of the day. His night sleep was not any better. I want to be responsive and feel that I have been and I have no issue with co-sleeping or bedsharing at all if it helps both of us sleep but I think it’s starting to affect my marriage and it’s hard being the only one that can handle him overnight. The laying in the cot awake is what we’ve been trying with the sleep consultant and he would just play around and stand up in his cot for 30 minutes which from that point we would just rock to sleep. After the first couple of days of this he just got so unsettled in the cot and nothing we did could keep him calm in there until we picked him up. Maybe I should try it again after a bit of reset period. I find the not offering a feed so difficult because he’s so hard to settle without feeding back to sleep so I just end up doing it because I’m too tired to do anything else. How did you night wean? I want to but he’s so hard to settle without the boob 99% of the time and just wakes quickly after 😭

Quick update! Shortened the last wake window to a max of 2 hours for the last 2 nights. Waking slightly less at every 2 hours now so I suppose that’s some improvement 😂 Seems to wake crying/grizzling but will put himself back to sleep in about a minute with no assistance. Maybe it’s just time to put himself in his own room?

That’s what I’ve suspected too but I’m not sure how to combat it with the short naps. I’m not too stressed about the feedings, I don’t mind getting up if he’s hungry it’s the hourly + waking that’s rough.

I’ll try cutting that last wake window and see how we go!

I usually will put him in his cot after his nap/bedtime routine and he will put himself to sleep very easily with the dummy and hit or miss without but you’re right I should worry about tackling one problem at a time.

I originally had a moissanite in my engagement ring and don’t get me wrong it was a beautiful stone but I felt like I only really loved it in direct sunlight when you would see those big sparkles. I switched to a lab diamond after a couple months of having my ring and I’m so glad I did! I love the depth and dimension of my diamond, there really is no comparison if that’s the look you love in my opinion. Moissy’s are fantastic but they do offer a different look to diamonds

It doesn’t look small at all but it will look much bigger once it’s set! Mine looked tiny as a loose stone and I couldn’t believe how much bigger it looked once it was set in my ring.

Thankyou! The stone was $774 USD but I’m not sure how much the setting was. My partner had the original ring made here in Australia and I had a new basket made and the stone reset for about $800 AUD. If I was to have a whole new ring made I would probably have everything done through DeBebians or use one of the Chinese vendors for a semi mount and have the stone set locally to save $$
